We were both in his BMW car heading to the mate party, which the alpha’s council was throwing. I didn’t wanna go because I wasn’t ready to meet my mate, but my father was persistent. He forced me to go with him. I understand that being the next alpha comes with a lot of responsibilities, but I wasn't an alpha material. I was shy from birth. My father had made me attend different seminars and support communities to boost my confidence, but it wasn’t working. I was just me, too shy, and I couldn’t help it. Sometimes I hate myself because of it. I adjusted the golden mask that I was wearing as it enlightened my blonde hair. I had big green eyes and not that much of a curve. I would say I am average-looking. That was one of the reasons I was very insecure. I hadn’t seen my wolf yet, but my father didn’t know that. He was just preparing the pack for me, so I would take over one day. I moved closer to my father in the back seat of the car and rested my head on his shoulder. He put his hand around my shoulder, holding me closer as the driver drove off at great speed. "Sage! Sage!" I heard my voice. I slowly opened my eyes and realized I had taken a nap in the car with my dad sitting next to me with his eyes fixed on me. I could hear loud, upbeat music coming from the big building where the alphas were hosting the party. I turned to the side and my eyes widened as I saw a large crowd out front. I hate crowded places. I gnashed my teeth and stayed inside the car. The driver drove the car into a large garage and parked it amongst other expensive cars. Before I could blink my eyes, my father got out of the car and extended his hand to me, resting his other hand on the door of the car. "Come on, my little princess, I will guide you." My dad said, still extending his hand to me with a dashing smile on his face. I leaped forward and gave my hand to him. I got out of the car, with my purple sparkling dress all over the floor. I shouldn’t have worn an elegant dress. I wanted to look different. My eyes landed on the large crowd waiting in line to get into the building. They were all dressed in regular clothing, like they were waiting to get into a club. I looked different indeed. I followed my father’s lead. I thought we wanted to wait in line with the people, but I was wrong. We were VIP guests. There was a separate entrance for important people, with a red carpet spread along the way, and reporters and media queuing in front, flashing their blinding lights in everyone's faces. They spotted me and my father and started running towards us with their cameras. I hid behind my father’s back as he took the lead in pushing the reporters away. Two bodyguards came in front of the building and started guiding us to keep the reporters away from us. Thank goodness I wore a mask. I didn’t know my dad was such a sensation. We walked into the party. It didn’t look elegant. It was more like a club with crowded people, mostly teenagers, dancing to upbeat music. They were literally naked, with half of their bodies in the open. The mood was a good and positive vibe. No special treatment, just people having fun. The sights, sounds of music, and smells of others filled my nose. I noticed a round table at the corner of the hall, where a group of alphas were seated and one extremely handsome alpha. I couldn’t get a glimpse of his face because he was looking in another direction talking to an older man, and Alpha Luke, the alpha of the light pack, was sipping his beer with his legs crossed together. He was having a great time. There was a slut standing beside him. She was massaging his shoulders with a smile on her face. The black bikini she was wearing showed her full round ass. I thought this was a mate meeting. It’s more like a strip club. The dance floor was full. The bar area was congested with folks trying to get their booze. Before I could glance at the third alpha that was sitting there, he stood up from his seat and walked away with someone that looked like Jake, a beta that my maid Ella had a crush on, who couldn’t stop talking about him and how generous he was. I pulled my hand from my father’s grip, looking in the direction Jake and the alpha went. They were in the bar area of the hall, sipping drinks. Three girls were on their d**ks, romancing them and also sitting on their laps. I felt a sting in my heart. As a petite sat on his alpha’s lap. I didn’t know why I was feeling jealous, but I was for some strange reason. She took his drink from him and emptied the glass cup before dropping it on the center table at her back. She grabbed his hand and placed it on her ass. He smiled widely at her with his eyes lingering on her lips. She also stared at his lips and pulled him in for a kiss, kissing him like her life depended on it. He wasn’t trying to break the kiss. She put her hand behind his hair, orally assaulting him, but he seemed to be enjoying it. He squeezed her ass hard, making her moan in his mouth as they continued kissing. My stomach flipped. I was furious and wanted to go to them and tear them apart. I didn’t know why I was getting pissed our enemy was having fun with other girls. Why can’t he just notice me? I was about to go to them, but an interesting conversation my father was having with Alpha Luke got me. He was his enemy because he always supported the alpha of the Darkmoon pack in everything. There was a time when the alpha of that pack tried to take over my father’s pack. He was also responsible for my mother’s death. Now I was stuck with a stepmother, my father’s second wife. She always treated me like her child because she didn’t give birth to any children for my father. Luke had a pot belly and also a well-trimmed beard surrounding his mushy lips. He was dressed in a black colored shirt and khaki pants. He looked like a mature man, but he wasn’t. "I don’t want to have a drink with you, traitor." My father said, pissed. He was glaring at Luke, who seemed to have a persistent smile that hadn’t left his face since I laid my eyes on him. "Why are you calling me a traitor? Like I was ever loyal to you." Alpha Luke remarked with an evil grin. "I beg your pardon; I came here with my daughter to enjoy my evening, so don’t spoil it." My father said and grasped my hand, pulling me closer to him, like he didn’t want me to go anywhere. "Come on, let’s have some fun. You have also invested in this place," Luke said, lifting his wine glass. He tried to walk towards us but staggered. That was when I knew he was drunk. He stood in front of me, smiling widely at me. His dark eyes were filled with lust and desire. I found it disgusting. "Hello damsel?" he said in a husky tone, waving at me, "How come I haven’t seen her? And what’s that thing in her face? Take it off," he said, stepping forward. I panicked and hid behind my father. Who is this w***e of an alpha? And what does he want from me? "Let her be pricks like you aren’t supposed to see her beautiful face." My father replied. I clutched his suit, peeping at Luke, who tossed me a cheeky wink. I frowned, glaring at him. "Why are you treating her like gold? Someone will soon have s*x with her. You know, someone will still break her…" My father cut in. "Get out of my sight, you bastard. How dare you talk about my daughter in that way?" My father said, fuming in anger, he wanted to start a fight with Luke. Luke stepped forward, trying to grasp my hand. There was one major problem in all the packs. All the men are just too addicted to s*x and no one can stop them. "Come here, girl, let’s have some fun together." Luke said, trying to grasp my hand. My father got angry and slapped him hard across the face, pushing him away. Luke staggered backward and was held by Jake, followed by his alpha, who had a solemn expression on his face. His hand was wrapped around a girl’s waist. My father glared at Jake’s alpha. "You guys are grownups; why are you creating a scene?" Jake’s alpha said. "Logan, stay out of this; it’s my business," Luke said with a tight-lipped smile and stood up on his feet. Logan, so that’s his name. Logan was a large, heavily built white man. He was a couple inches taller than me; his hair was neatly faded on the side, and he had rock-hard abs and a broad chest. "Okay," Logan said, and stepped forward, looking at my father in the eyes. "And you stay out of our way, I may have lost the chance to take over your pack. But don’t think I will let you live in peace." He said, poking my dad on the chest. My father’s eyes were twitching in fury, he clenched his fist in an attempt to fight Logan. “Dad…please let’s get out of here. You don’t wanna create a scene.” I muttered to myself, but he didn’t want to listen to me. “Logan or whatever your name is, don’t think I will forget that you are the reason I lost my wife!” My father yelled at his face, he chuckled, and our eyes met, his expression changed, he shook his head and turned to look at Luke. “Let’s leave these low lives alone.” He declared and started walking away with them, as if he was ignoring me. “Come back here! You scumbags!” My father screamed. Everyone in the party turned their gazes to us. I hugged him with my head on his chest, preventing him from chasing after them. “Ugh! Who do they think they are?” He said, gnashing his teeth and, pulled away from the hug, looking down at me, with his hand on my shoulder. "Come, let’s go sit over there." He said, pointing at another empty chair for VIP guests. We went over there and took over the seats. In less than a second, the waiters brought fine dishes and wines to our table. I grabbed a meat ball and tossed it into my mouth. I wasn’t a good drinker, so I wasn’t planning to drink. "Why don’t you have a drink?" My father asked and poured wine into the two glasses in front of me. I pursed my lips. "I don’t want to drink, father," I muttered. "Just take a sip. You are the future alpha. You should learn how to drink and stop being shy. This is not going to help you in the future…" He said and started lecturing me. I couldn’t hear what he was saying. I couldn’t stop looking in Jake’s direction. He was talking with Luke. "Here, drink it." My father said and handed it to me. I reluctantly took it from him and sniffed it. It reeked of alcohol, and I didn’t like the smell. "…can I have something else to drink?" I inquired. He shook his head and waved a waiter who walked over to our table and bowed slightly. "How may I help you, your highness?" The waiter asked in a respectful manner. "Uh, I want a glass of orange juice please." I beamed, he blinked his eyes and walked away. My father was about to take a sip of his wine, when two alphas came to our table. I bowed my head with respect, they ignored me and looked at my father. "Come with us, we have a meeting." One of them said. My father dropped his glass and got up from his seat. "I don't want to attend a meeting that Luke and his minions are having." My father whispered to them. "They are not included; we have something to show you." One of them replied. I felt sad. I extended my hand to my father as he walked away with the alphas without looking at me. It was his way of telling me to join the party. "Father, please don’t go..." I said softly in a voice I could only hear, but they were already gone. Now it was me alone against the world, with no one to protect me. I folded my hands as I watched the happy wolves dancing and talking with one another. "Here is your drink, miss." The waiter said, handing me a cold glass of orange juice. I sat there taking little sips of the orange juice until I emptied the bottle, but I wasn't fine. My head was spinning like I had been given a strong whiskey instead of orange juice. My eyes started spinning. I didn't know where I was anymore. My body started moving to the music. I got up from the table and dropped the glass cup on the floor. It broke into pieces as I hit the dance floor.
