Before me stood Dominic Blackwood, completely stripped of his usual depth and elegance.
He looked like a wolf.
One that could tear me apart, chew me up, and leave no bones behind.
When I woke up, my throat was hoarse, and my waist felt as if it had been broken.
The air was thick with the remnants of last night, and the room was a mess that hadn’t been cleaned up yet.
I endured the discomfort in my body as I sat up, only to realize that the clothes on the floor had been shredded into pieces, leaving me with nothing to wear.
In the three years of our marriage, Dominic had never shown me any tenderness. After all, he had no reason to care about the feelings of someone he saw as merely a tool.
I had grown accustomed to his dominance and brutality, yet last night’s events left me feeling utterly humiliated.
We had clearly decided to divorce; how could he still insult me at the slightest provocation?
Hearing movement in the room, Dominic extinguished his cigarette and walked in carrying a gift bag.
My skin was delicate, as if a light touch would leave a mark. Last night, he had indeed lost control, leaving bruises on my skin. With my fair complexion, those marks stood out starkly.
However, the thought that someone else could have taken me if it wasn’t him quickly extinguished that flicker of compassion. With a cold expression, he tossed the clothes onto me and snapped, “You’ve completed what James Scott asked you to do. You can leave now.”
The clothing bag grazed my face, leaving a faint scratch that made me gasp.
But what hurt more than my body was my heart, which felt like it was riddled with wounds.
I thought I would be calm when facing the hurt from Dominic Blackwood, but it turned out I had overestimated myself.
The birth control pills I had packed in my bag were meant to regulate my estrogen levels. Ever since my last surgery, my body had been through trauma, and my menstrual cycle had been irregular. Taking the pills was the most effective way to manage it.
Clearly, Dominic had misunderstood me, assuming that I brought the pills to discuss matters of affection, thinking I was there to sell myself.
He always had a habit of imposing his thoughts on me, never giving me a chance to defend myself.
I fought to suppress the feelings of grievance and humiliation rising within me, mechanically putting on my clothes without exchanging a word with Dominic.
My silence only fueled his anger. He shoved the bottle of birth control pills into my hand. "Make sure to take these before you leave. You know I don’t want to leave any loose ends or trouble."
My heart felt like it had been stabbed. I knew all too well that Dominic was afraid I might get pregnant.
To him, my child was a liability and a problem. But what about the illegitimate child in Scarlett Haye's womb?
Forget it; there's no point in dwelling on this anymore.
I tilted my head back and swallowed the medication, coldly meeting Dominic Blackwood's gaze. "Dominic, can I leave now?"
He felt an inexplicable anger rising within him. I was the one trying to barter with my body, the one who had betrayed our marriage.
How could I act so arrogantly after doing something so wrong?
Sometimes, he found himself reevaluating his wife.
"Vivian Carter, I told you before, I don't like troublemakers. You'd better know your place."
I smirked. "Don't worry, Dominic. Once we return to the country, I'll grant you your freedom."
He couldn't tell how much truth there was in my words, but it inexplicably irritated him.
"Tell James Scott that I'll give him a chance with Achievers. But if you help him with any more of these disgraceful antics, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
I scoffed. "What’s this? Dominic, are you having second thoughts? You don’t really want a divorce, do you? Even after I’ve acted so recklessly, you still plan to give me a way out?"
He was completely fed up with me. "You're overthinking it. I can't wait to get rid of someone like you. Just remember, I, Dominic Blackwood, will never go back on my word."
In other words, I should think it through and don’t regret it later.
“Alright, it’s settled then. As soon as I return home, we’ll get the divorce certificate sorted.”
I straightened my clothes and left without looking back. Just as I reached the door, I scoffed, “Dominic Blackwood, your skills in bed are terrible. I don’t know how Scarlett Hayes puts up with you.”
His expression darkened. He kicked the coffee table hard with his foot.
The table shattered instantly, leaving a mess everywhere.
Did I really think I could keep pushing his limits like this?
As I exited the hotel, I was unaware that a camera in the café across the street was capturing my every move.
Scarlett POV
When I received the photos, I was ecstatic.
Even though Vivian was bundled up, her walking posture and the bruises on her neck, along with her swollen lips, revealed everything about her actions the night before. Plus, she had spent the entire night at the hotel. This alone was enough to solidify the evidence of Vivian Carter's infidelity, leaving her with no room to argue.
Luisa kim suggested, “Scarlett, why don’t you send these photos to Dominic Blackwood? Let him see just how low this woman can go.”
"Take your time. Dominic was already planning to divorce her; I have other uses for these photos."
"I see. You're planning to release these photos when Dominic Blackwood kicks this woman to the curb. At that point, she'll be the target of everyone's scorn and won't be able to show her face in this world again."
My face lit up with a hint of excitement. "She wants to compete with me? I'll make her experience the taste of being despised and abandoned by everyone."

Meanwhile, I returned to my hotel and collapsed into bed. After being tossed around by that jerk Dominic Blackwood all night, all I wanted was a good rest.
When I finally woke up, it was already afternoon, and my phone was buzzing with calls from James Scott.
"Vivian, Vyx has loosened their stance. They want you to come by today."
I found the situation somewhat ironic. Was Dominic Blackwood giving me this consolation prize because I had successfully played the role of a doll last night?
"Okay, I'll get ready and head over."
"Great, I'll come to the hotel to pick you up."
I got up and took a shower, scrubbing my body repeatedly. I felt like I couldn't wash away the lingering scent of Dominic Blackwood from my skin.
I specifically chose a long-sleeved dress to cover the marks on my arms, and even tied a silk scarf around my neck to hide the hickeys.
After changing, I grabbed the hotel perfume from the shelf and sprayed a few puffs, hoping it would mask that damn scent.
As soon as James Scott saw me, he eagerly asked, "I heard that Vyx's partner is no pushover. How did you manage to convince him?"
I chuckled to myself, "With this face, do you believe it?"
"Cough, cough, what a joke! If you had that kind of confidence, all the men in the world would be falling at your feet. Who does Dominic Blackwood think he is?"
Upon arriving at Vyx, James Scott started flirting with the receptionist, while I headed to Marvis styles's office alone.
To my surprise, Dominic Blackwood was also there. I let my gaze drift over him before landing squarely on Marvis styles. "Since you wanted to discuss important matters with me, shouldn't we ask the bystanders to leave?"
Being labeled as a "bystander," Dominic Blackwood instantly radiated hostility, the veins on his forehead throbbing.
