Chapter Two Margo felt as though her brain were on fire as she stomped through the dense undergrowth. For a long while, she didn't notice anything outside her own mind. She continued her argument with Deanna, though Deanna was nowhere nearby. In her head, she said the words she couldn't bring herself to utter in real life. She ranted and raged. The buzzing in her brain felt horrible, but it also felt good. How could she explain it, even to herself? And then Margo realized she was sweating through her blouse. She hadn't even put her jacket on. How could she possibly feel so hot? She must have been moving through the forest at quite a clip, or else the seasons had changed from mid-spring to full-on summer in the few minutes since she'd left the car. How long had she been walking?
