Chapter 8 “Bella,” Jonathan said, reading from the paper Ben had handed him. “You were the best cat a guy could hope for. I miss you so much already.” Ben let out a terrible moan, so Jonathan stopped reading. Was he doing a bad job of reciting Bella's eulogy? Was that the problem? No. It had nothing to do with him. Ben was just sad because he'd lost his cat. Jonathan had to resist the urge to make it all about himself. When Ben silently encouraged him to continue, Jonathan read, “I'm sorry I didn't notice how sick you were getting. I thought you were just old.
