June 10 I'm finding it amusing how everyone assumes that I am Skipper's mate and he is the captain. Even after we correct the mistake, some people––especially businessmen taking a brief break from work––still refer to him as the captain. It says a lot about our society when it just won't compute for people that a young lady can be in charge, while an older, experienced man follows her lead. It's utterly inconceivable to many. Skipper just laughs it off and suggests I do the same, but sometimes it really burns me up. I guess I'm not going to fix the inequality issue in my little corner of paradise, but I do enjoy looking the surprised assholes directly in the eyes and letting them know I'll be their captain. They probably think Skipper is there to bail the 'little lady' out if I get into
