"Wait, before I get to work is there anywhere else that would need my attention? Let me just get an overview of what I have to do. Technically, Karen is supposed to tell me but for some reason, she can't stand my guts." He chuckled as he said those words but I can't help but think it actually bugged him that he and she don't get along.
"The back of my head," I replied easily.
"Oh, alright." He spins me a little to get a full view of the back of my head. "It doesn't look so bad here, I can tell that Karen did some work here." I think he moved closer for a better look, I can't exactly tell but his voice sort of sounded like he was speaking directly into my ears.
"There is a slight skin break but nothing too much, however…" His voice started to sound a little far away at this point. "I am afraid there is more damage inside than on the outside."
What?! I almost yell out but he doesn't expatiate and just goes on with the work on my face. There is no nearby mirror for me to have a look at what he is doing but deep down even if there was I didn't think I would want to see.
He worked on my face for quite some time. Stopping to study my face to see if he was doing it right. I wanted to see however I was more curious about the end result.
"Yep," he suddenly announced, nodding furiously. "I like to think this is my best job yet." I stared into his face as if that would help me get a clue as to what my face looked like and he winked at me.
He immediately goes to work on my arm which I have a clear view of with no intention of missing any details whatsoever. He started by rubbing a liquid all over my stitched arm.
I was curious as to what the liquid was and what it was for but I did not think that was the time to ask questions as Melvin was obviously concentrating.
He picked a tape and measured the length and width of my hand and I am wondering what the point of this is. He then takes the tape to the table but I am not close enough to see what he is doing. He comes back later with a small sheet of human skin and my eyes nearly fall out of their socket.
He laughed, "Don't look so terrified. It's just fake skin." I nodded, I could already figure out what he did on my face even though I couldn't see or feel the application but seeing that size of fake skin that looked so real was unexpected.
He then went on to gently place it on my arm and began to rub the edges in as he sealed it, covering the stitches. It was fascinating to watch him work. "This should probably hold for a while," he was saying but I knew he didn't need a reply from me. It didn't take him long to finish and then he got to work on my hair.
"Now for the last part, I feel like this would be a slight hassle." He announced just before he got to work on my hair and scalp. I also figured this was a hard part but he finished faster than I would have imagined.
