"Yeah, we are called Mortuus. Next up is zombz, basically your typical zombie and the most dangerous of all the Rabids, Rabid Zombies. The kind that attacked you." She said, staring at me intensely.
I heard noises and I figured Ray and Jay were in the building. "I guess they are here." Karen said, confirming my thoughts.
She paused a little, waiting for them to come into the room. I listened to their feet as they walked, they all walked briskly but someone dragged their feet, I wondered who it was.
"Ray, which one of you decided not to tell her anything? I know it's Jay but I can't believe you went along with his stupid idea." They were barely a foot into the room, when her voice pierced the air, shushing their mumblings.
"No, I—I didn't…" Ray stuttered looking back and forth from Jay to Karen.
"Well, well, well! What have we here? You look completely different." Jay interrupted changing the topic. Either Jay didn't like giving compliments or he didn't know how to.
"Don't change the topic Jay I'm not done." Karen pestered.
I wasn't really bothered that they kept this away from me and now that I think about it, Karen has not exactly said anything I didn't have an idea about. Besides, I figured I was going to find out one way or another, I wasn't in that much of a hurry to find out how much my new life sucked.
"We basically did her a favor," Jay replied, sounding a bit exasperated. I could get why, Karen was a bit overbearing and overwhelming. "The last thing she needed to hear was how her new life sucked while sitting in her congealed pool of blood."
I could see Karen ready to go gangster on him so I intervened. "I really don't mind. As long as I'm told all I need to know eventually." I replied, forcing my face into a smile.
My words seem to get to Karen and she smiled back. "Alright, I guess I should continue. Oh, that reminds me when would Mic see her?" She asked Ray and Jay together.
I was watching Jay and I saw his face go from neutral to a straight on scowl. "It's funny how you're never informed." He replied a bit condescendingly.
Karen didn't miss his tone and already made to attack Jay but Ray prevented that. "He went along with the Seven."
"What?" Karen looked whiter than normal.
"Said, he needs to tie up a few loose ends, nothing serious."
"Who or what's the seven?" I asked suddenly, interrupting whatever weird mood was going on.
"They are our most combative force." Jay replied.
"Most combative? Could somebody explain that."
"You know, our strongest force." Ray attempted.
I rolled my eyes, "I know what that means. Who or what are they combating?"
"What is the right pronoun. Remember the nasty zombie that bit you? Those are called Rabids and we try to keep them under control." Jay spoke.
"You?" Karen snickered.
"Shut the f up! You know what I mean." Turning to me, he said, "That's basically what Mortuus do. You already told her what that means right?" Jay asked Karen.
"Yeah, you're welcome."
"So, what am I going to do now? What do I do here because obviously, I am not a fighter." I lamented.
