~Aaron~ She’d already fallen asleep when I left. I called one of my guys almost immediately, asking him to keep an eye on her house while I got ready for our journey. The truth was, I hadn't thought about going to Paris, not even for a second—let alone going with Joan. I’d just wanted to do something for her, something to take her mind off all this, and leaving the country seemed like the best option. When I got home, I called the pilot and asked him to get the jet ready for tomorrow morning. At least if we left early, we’d be able to get there on time. I scrolled through my contacts and stopped at the number of a guy who’d once told me to call him if I ever went to Paris. It was his way of paying me back for saving his life a few years ago.
