CHAPTER 04: THE DATE...

ADAM’S POV: “Let’s talk in the library room.” As soon as I said the words, she looked at me as if I’m speaking in Arabic or something. “How the hell do you know about the room in the  library?!” She nearly yelled making me chuckle at her reaction. “I helped Uncle Hunter to build this house when I was 15. He wanted to build a house of your liking and that you like the idea of secret passage and rooms. I practically draw the whole plan for this beautiful place.” I smiled remembering my time when we designed all this stuff. “What is in the library room? And how are you so sure that there is something for me or not?” She finally stood up and we started walking towards the library. “I may or may not have read the note that you hurriedly kept in your purse...” I trailed off as she took her purse and saw that half of the note is indeed lingering outside.  She smiled and took the whole note out. “You asked earlier about these god awful painted cheeks right?” I nodded my head. This is the first time I’ve felt this angry. All I wanted to do was caress her cheek to ease the pain and hit that motherfucker who did this. “I’ll tell you after I find out what dad wants to tell me and I get the answers to my questions.” She smirked knowing that the answers to the questions are not very easy to find and I have a long wait ahead. We finally reached the library and it is exactly as I expected. Modern bookshelves with the big wall of it in a classic way. It is a two-story library. And I can tell there is every book I want to read in this room. It was Uncle Hunter who developed my interest in reading. Not just that he gave the point of view to see both sides of the story to make a clear and fair picture. I was always confused by his advice until I started reading the news. It is a better game then chess if you ask me. I bet this beautiful girl has been playing this game for a while now. We walked to the wall and Sapphire looked at me before moving the book on the left side corner of the wall. The door opened and I saw Sapphire getting nervous. “Do you want me to wait outside?” I whispered as the whole house is too quiet. “No. If dad thought that you are special to know his secrets, I do too.” She opened the shelf and walked inside and I followed the lead. Looking around the room that was filled with hers and her dad’s most beautiful pictures. There were a couch, a table and a few other sitting arrangements. The room looked like it was a small one but it wasn’t. Sapphire looked at all the pictures on the wall while I silently walked up to the couch and sat. Not wanting to disturb her. Now that I looked at her, I know that she is the most beautiful person I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Her mid-waist length hair was tied up in a high ponytail. She was the first girl I ever saw that had no makeup caked up on the face.  Her flawless Honey skin tone was the best thing that complicated her look with her chocolate brown eyes and brown hair. She had a very good height too. Maybe 1.60 to 70 meters or something. And her structure was like the goddess. I was so busy with my complaints on her that I didn’t notice that she has stopped looking at the pictures on the wall and now was looking at one particular one. “This picture wasn’t taken in by us.” She mumbled under her breath but due to the silence, I heard it too. Though, I sat at my place quietly, looking at what she does now. It was a picture of her and her brother Noah. That’s when I noticed that it was the only picture of the siblings on the whole wall. She took the frame in her hand and kept it on the table of the room. Turning it around, she took the picture out and indeed it was just a normal picture. “I can’t find any answers at this pace!” She signed in frustration making me frown. I stood up and went behind her. I could see her body stiff as she felt my presence right behind her. “Close your eyes, Angel. Breath, calm your nerves down and see the other side of the wall.” I whispered in her ear making her shiver as she felt my breath on her ears when I spoke. I moved back to my original place and saw her doing what she was told. Soon the body relaxed and she kept the picture aside, taking the frame in her hands.  She touched the edge of the frame and shook her head and flashed a victorious smirk. Quickly opening the side of the frame from where the picture can be inserted. I smiled as she hurriedly took a pen drive out of the corner and turned towards me. “Found it! Let’s go and see what is it.” She said and came back to me, taking my hand and pulled me out of the room. The door of the room closed automatically behind us as we walked to the room at the corner of the hallway. She opened the door and I saw a comfortable study room with all it’s needed accessories.  Sapphire opened the MacBook that was on the table and quickly inserted the pen drive. The files opened and I noticed that there are only two files in the drive. One was a video and the other was a bunch of photographs. She clicked on the video and it started to play. Indeed it was from Uncle Hunter in his office. ‘Hi, Angel, I never doubted you wouldn’t find this. As always your dad had some good luck telling you the right thing. You have loads of questions I have to answer but let me clear something first. Everything happens for a reason and everything that will happen is for a reason too. You know that I never break my promises and I know I have kept each one of them. Now, the answers you’re edged to hear. I didn’t just have a heart attack as it is written in the cause of death. It not the story. I told Robert Thomas, My doctor friend, to write that. Before I tell you everything I want you to see this video to the very last part.  You always wanted to have a mother like you had your dad but everything is not as good as it seems. Not every golden thing is gold. Olivia is the same too. She was the one who is behind all this creaked up s**t. You remember when I was diagnosed with high blood pressure right? I started the medicine to control it and it all started with that. Olivia and I weren’t on talking terms ever since I saw her beating you like an animal. I wanted to make her leave our lives for good but that wasn’t easy. As a father, I wanted to protect my children from every single person that intends to harm them. But just before a month I found that she has another child from some man. He or she may or may not be a part of our life in one way or another. After the revelation, I comforted her.  One topic led to another and she spilt out the secret about slow poisoning me through my meds. As soon as I found that I went to the doctor to get help if it is possible. After the diagnosis, they told me that I have less than a month to leave. Every organ of my body is affected by the poison she was using for me. Now, we can’t replace every organ of the body can we.’  Uncle chuckled and Sapphire was blankly looking at the screen as the video continued. ‘I knew I have to save my children from that foul woman but that’s where the harsh part comes. Even though your brother is not like his mother I’ve seen him in his worse. You’ll know the whole picture on your own. But I redid the Will immediately. You always wanted to make me proud by starting your business empire from zero, I know. But this Company is what I wanted for you from the beginning. You the most powerful and strong person I know and you are my daughter. You’ll do everything right and I know that. As for Olivia. I divorced her without a second thought. She is no longer a Steel and the money you’ll be giving her is mere alimony. Your brother may or may not be a very good person but I wanted to make sure he isn’t in the way to get you hurt in any way. You would want to put these people in jail but that’s not an option. It will only affect the prestige of the company. So they are ordered to leave the country within a month and shift to other countries. You don’t have to worry about her in any way. But I want you to be happy. I want you to feel complete like you always wanted to be and I’m sure it will happen soon. Right now, all you have to do is get ready for becoming the CEO and the President of Steel IN & CO.  I want you to know that any of this isn’t your fault. I love you My Princess and you are the sunshine that comes after the darkness.  You always knew that you have it inside you and you deserve it. You may not be my blood but you are my Daughter in every sense. My Child and I’ve always been proud of you.  I have always loved and I love you the most in this world. As a mentor, a father and as a friend you are the best thing that happened to me and I don’t feel any regret towards my decision of taking an Angel in my life and as my beautiful daughter. You are the strongest but even the strongest of the strongest need some encouragement So every time you feel like you’re going to break- Close your eyes, Angel. Breath, calm your nerves down and see the other side of the wall. I love you, My Angel.’ Uncle blew a kiss and the video stopped. I looked at the Angel beside me as she opened the file with the photographs. It was the divorce papers, a copy of Will and some original documents. Uncle Hunter was the best example of an ideal male. Respectful. Loyal, Trustworthy, Kind, Pure and Strong minded. He never leaves a task given and I know that the letter he wrote to me was his last promised given to this beautiful Angel beside me.  I looked at her and saw her taking the drive out from the MacBook and keeping it in the side drawer. She stood up and closed the MacBook. “Is the date still on? Cause I’m starving.” She said with a smile but her eyes gave away the truth. She wanted to cry. Heck, she wants to scream right now and I can see that. Something about her is so pure that j can see the emotions that are overwhelming her through her emotionless eyes. She moved to leave but I quickly caught her wrist making her look at me. “You are not leaving this room before you cry your eyes out, Angel,” I told her softly making her fake smile go away.  “What are you talking about? I don’t feel like crying at all and I don’t want to ruin my Kohl loaded eyes that I exclusively did for my first date.” She said and tried to break free from me. I pulled her to me again and this time a bit too harshly. Making her body press into mine. “You are not leaving this room, Sapphire. You are not a robot. You can’t just suppress your feelings and pretend like all you have to do is go on a stupid date with me!” I held her from her shoulder making her look at me as I stared down at her. “I. Don’t. Have. Time. For. Crying. Like. A child. When. I have my plate full with the other shit.” She tried to wiggle out of my grip while speaking each word but stopped struggling when I tightened my grip. “Everything will work out you’ll be able to think straight and right now, you are not doing that,” I said softly and loosened my hand only to warp her up in my embrace. “Adam leave me!” She tried to struggle by pushing me away while her voice cracked slightly. “I’m not leaving you, Angel. You need to get it out. You need to feel. Please” I pleaded, rubbing her back as she continued to struggle. “You asshole! Leave me I don’t want comfort I want food right now!” I smiled lightly as she called me an asshole. I don’t know why... We stood there for good 10 minutes as she continued to call me names and I continued to tell her that I’ll be here by her side. She stoped her wrestling after a few minutes and we just stood there in silence. I patiently waited for her to tell me something, anything. But she just rested her head over my chest and her hand slowly warped around my Stomach. “I killed my father...” She finally said and her hold around me became firm. “No, you didn’t. You were just giving medicine to your dad. It was all Olivia, Angel.”  I said and rested my chin on her head. “It was my fault! I killed him, Adam!” And she started crying. I signed and repeated sweet nothings. We stood there for a while and she continued to tell the same sentence again and again. I finally took her in my hands and we sat on the couch of the study room. Her head rested on my shoulder as I held her close. Her hands warped around my neck like her life depends on it. Her sobs and hiccups were the only sound other than the words I was saying. The tears fell on my T-shirt and I lost the track of time after 2 hours. But nothing changed. She still kept sobbing and I continued to hold her close to me. Finally, her sobs turned to hiccups and then she went completely silent after a few minutes. Her breathing became even and her hold around my neck was no longer tight. After an hour or so I knew she was asleep and slowly picked her up in bridal style. Carefully laying her down on her bed I took the pins off her hair and freed her beautiful locks. I sat beside her and took some tissues that I found in one of the drawers of her bedside table. Clearing her face from the dried tears. I kissed her forehead and walked out of the room. Changing my T-shirt and taking one extra with me I went to the kitchen. Knowing that she hasn’t had dinner and neither had I, I heated the pasta. I’ve never comforted anyone in my life. But for her, it came up as an instance. I wanted to be the person who has seen her cry. I know it is crazy to marry a girl just because the man I respect asked me too. But now I know the reasons.  I didn’t know I could meet someone like me. All I wanted in my life was a family. A perfect family. After the death of my mom and twin brother Abel, I was always the one to keep it to myself. Well, it was before I got to know Uncle Hunter. I call him my godfather not just for anything. He was the first person who broke my walls and made me feel when I didn’t want to. Even though dad got married to Flora and I got a younger sister as Mia, I still feel the loneliness. It’s not that I didn’t try to accept them both as my family. It is that they never wanted to be bonded to me. That’s where I see Sapphire right now. In the middle of a Circus, she didn’t buy tickets to. She is everything I imagined my life partner to be.  Only Uncle Hunter knew how bad I wanted to be with someone who is my family. It’s not like I don’t have friends or I don’t get along with dad, I do. It just that... The sound of the microwave took me out of my thoughts and I took the pasta out. I arranged the plates and pasta on a tray and took them to Sapphire’s bedroom. A date is it then...
