CHAPTER 14: REUNIONS...

SAPPHIRE’S POV: I walked from one store to another and shopped many toys, games and clothes as my bodyguards took all the bags. I was about to enter the elevator when I bumped into a masculine chest. The minty freshness gave away the fact that he was no one else but My Man. I smiled a cheeky smile and looked up only to see him looking at me with calculative and questioning eyes. “Why are you looking at me like that?” I chuckled and moved back. Adam scratched his forehead and looked around. “Are you okay Miss?” I frowned at his voice. It sounded really strange. “Yeah I’m fine but...” Before is can continue he cut me off with a smile. “Sorry I wasn’t looking, have a nice day Miss.” He said and moved ahead. Finally, the realisation hit like a storm that he doesn’t recognise me. I felt tears building in my eyes as I walked into the elevator. It wasn’t the ‘he doesn’t recognise me’ part that scared me the most. The thing that scared me was that somehow knew that he doesn’t recognise me and was very much ready for him to watch him walk away just like he did. Yet I couldn’t stop the sob that racked through my mouth.  The only thing that kept me sane at that moment was the sound of my name being called by the voice that makes my heart feel content. I was shaken up and finally opened my eyes to see Adam looked at me with concern and his face was sweating like he ran a marathon. “Why were you crying in your sleep? Is there anything that’s bothering you?” His voice was ten times more concerned then his face showed outside. “I... nothing... It was just a strange dream.” I trailed off not wanting to speak the words of my subconscious mind out. I turned to my right and buried my face in Adam’s chest, listening to his raised heartbeats. “Okay... You sure you don’t want to talk about it.” I nodded my head as much as I could as we both were sticking with each other like a second skin. I couldn’t shake off the feeling that how everything felt so real yet so fake. The room was still dark which meant that I awoke Adam up in the middle of the night. I signed and moved my hand to rub off the sweat on Adam’s forehead. He signed and closed his eyes making me follow his actions. His manly scent and the warmth of his hands that held me closer to him made me feel relaxed from my wired subconscious mind. Soon after I was back asleep. The next morning when I woke up Adam was on the phone beside me and was talking to Max who called to inform him that we are going on a picnic with Bella and him. “Good morning, Angel. You heard it right?” Adam said and pulled me in a warm hug. “I did. You get ready, I’ll have Mrs Paul to make a few sandwiches and snacks for the day.” I kissed Adam’s cheeks and moved out of bed and to the washroom to freshen up quickly. After completing my morning routine, I brushed and washed my face and left the bathroom. Seeing Adam sit on the bed with just his trousers. The strong muscles of his made me drawl at the Greek god who is mine. “Done checking me out?” I snapped out of my dazed face as I heard his smirking voice. “I can so I’m.” I winked at My Man and moved to the door. He doesn’t have to see the blushed on my face. I heard him chuckle as I closed the door behind me after taking my phone that was on the table beside the bedroom door. When I entered the kitchen Mrs Paul was dancing her way from one cabin to another. She looked so graceful when she does that. Even if her weight isn’t the barbie doll one’s, she looks like one. “Good morning Mrs Paul.” I greeted her with a smile and she did the same. “Good morning Miss Steel.” I frowned. “I told you no formalities right?” I sat on one of the island stools. “Sure Miss Steel but some habits take time.” She smiled at me and continued her work. “Mrs Paul, can you please make sandwiches and a few other snacks and drinks for the picnic of four?” I asked taking the glass of fresh orange juice that she served me. “Of course dear. I’ll have them ready in an hour.” She said and call the other helpers through the intercom. As I finished my glass of juice I felt my phone vibrate in my pockets. Looking at Max’s number I quickly picked up. “Good morning!!!” I pulled the phone back to save my ears from bleeding out. “Good morning. You sound super excited...” I said with suspicion. “I’m. Look don’t tell Adam but pack the food for six and not four.” He said whispering. “Okay... I’ll, but who else is joining us?” I asked as I looked at Mrs Paul who was busy taking out ingredients for the menu. “That's a surprise.” Before I can argue, he hung up. I shook my head and smiled. “Mrs Paul, please pack for six instead of four.” I heard her say okay as I left the room with a quick thank you. When I entered my room, Adam was coming out of the closet in a navy blue shirt and sky blue jeans. He didn’t tuck in which made him look even better than he usually does. I smiled at him and he did the same. “I’ll wait for you for the breakfast.” He left the room after kissing my crown. I went to the bathroom with a foolish smile on my face. After a relaxing bath, I left the room in ankle jeans and a maroon sweater with a white jacket. I styled my hair into a fishtail and put on my cherry coloured lipgloss. I left the room after wearing my sport shoes and taking my wallet with my iCard, cash, cards and phone. “Do you want me to come back early?” Adam spoke on the phone as she rubbed his forehead in frustration. “Okay Dad, but if you do you know that I can always fly back soon right.” He nodded in satisfaction and hung up after greeting his father bye. “What happened? All okay?” I sat on the chair opposite Adam as the staff served our breakfast. “Dad found something suspicious in accounts,” Adam said tiredly. I didn’t comment back as I knew the topic was closed already. We had mutual consent on not discussing the office with each other. Problems of office are always to be kept out of the reach as we knew that our companies are always few steps up and down in any perspective. The compilation is good but not for a relationship. It was settled that we share the minimal about our work atmosphere as to leave a topic for complications behind. We ate breakfast in silence as always and meanwhile the staff loaded one of my SUV with the big three baskets of snacks, lunch and dinner. Soon we left for the picnic spot which Max sent with Adam driving and me screaming the songs like a crazy person I’m. Max and Adam’s car soon drove side by side as they reached the meeting spot at the same time. After driving for almost two hours, the cars stopped near open grounds. The view from the inside was so beautiful that I felt more than happy just sitting in the car. Adam tapped my shoulder and smile as he indicated to me that it’s time to get out. “It’s so beautiful here!” Bella screamed and jumped on Max’s back trailing the series of thank you and I love you behind her making him laugh and walk to the centre of the Ground. I and Adam smiled at each other and took the heavy baskets of deliciousness with us with the big met that Mrs Paul kept with the baskets. Adam took two baskets at once with the met and I took the last one with me. Max ran back to us and moved to his car. He took a cartoon out of the backseat of his car and I know that it has alcohol and soft drinks in it as it’s always him who has such responsibilities. Bella set the met and we kept the baskets in the middle of it. As we were going to sit around it the third car pulled over. We all turned to see the surprise. I gasped as I saw Aunt Amy come out from the passenger seat. Adam’s body went stiff beside me as he clenched his knuckles. One second there was longing,  pain and anger in his eyes and just in another, there was love, relief, happiness and Adoration in them. His fist was released and the bright blue eyes were now filled with tears of longing. I looked back at Aunt Amy and saw her reciprocate the same feelings as Adam if not more. She was wearing a long sleeve dress that reached her ankle and had an elegant shoal over her shoulder. Aunt Amy ran to Adam and as she neared we could hear her sobs that could melt a mountain. Adam took a few steps and they both were warped around each other in a millisecond. I smiled through my tear-filled eyes. I don’t know how much pain you go through when you have to choose among your children and stay away from them for a very long time. Even though I’m not a mother, any blind person can feel how much agony they felt for each other in the other’s absence. After a few minutes, Aunt Amy calmed down and they broke the hug as Adam quickly wiped her tears off. After a few minutes of apologies and scoldings, the atmosphere was finally settled. “I’m in for a reunion too!” We all startled at the sudden voice and turned to see the great LUCA MRTIN standing with all his glory. Luca was the fourth member of our small friends' group. His raven black hair, grey eyes, 6.4’ height, broad shoulder and handsome face with a British accent made him the most popular boy in our school. Luca moved to Scotland for two years and we never heard from him after that. Maybe it was because his father wanted his Mafia Prince back to his kingdom. Yup! Luca is the son of the UK’s most influential and powerful Mafia family. It was a surprise to see him after so long. “You are so so welcome. How are you a long time, no see?” I smiled sweetly at the tattooed man and stepped closer to him.  “Thank god. Max, I told you she is not gonna...” before he can complete I punched his pretty face hard making everyone around us gape. Well everyone except Max who whistled. “I told you, you will be getting a good one bro. She has been working out for this day.” Max comments that made everyone except me and Luca laugh. “You dare to say that you’re here for a reunion when you forget about our existence for the last two years?” I said in a dangerously low voice and took a step forward. Luca copied my action and took a step back. “You know you look like a Princess in a red colour.” He tried to compliment. I shook my head at him and smirked. “It’s Maroon and now you’re dead.” You see Luca thinks that VIBGYOR is the only colour that Exists apart from black and white. I ran after him and he threw his hands up in the air dramatically as if he was running to save his dear life. Well, he is. After fooling around with him for a few minutes we finally laughed and hugged. When the commotion settled, we sat around the baskets and took the fresh juice in our hands as we talked and laughed. One thing I was sure of was, the happiness you feel is not only yours but of others too. We think that it’s our self-esteem that matters but in reality the smile of the person who you love the most.
