ADAM’S POV:
I smiled looking at the beauty sleeping next to me. After looking at her for a while, I got out of the bed and did my morning routine before placing a note for Angel, telling her that I've gone for a walk. It is still 5:30 in the morning and she won't be up till six.
Taking my phone from the nightstand, I jogged out of the house and on the road. The talk from last night lingered over my head as I rumbled through all the possibilities of the attack. First things first, if Angel gets a letter just a day before the attack then either the person who is sending those is well familiar with the attacker or he is the one who is the real culprit.
I picked up my speed as my thoughts went wild. For the last five months, Sapphire has been protecting me as a family would. But my problem is, why Sapphire? The man could've chosen any of my family member or friends for this Save Adam at any cost game... Or we have a black sheep in this small circle. I took my phone and dialled the number I trust the most.
“Hey! I thought you were going to take your girlfriend hike and fishing boy. Why are you calling me during my sleeping hours?” I chuckled hearing his goofy voice from sleep.
“Good morning to ya too, Antonio.” I heard him sign before a few rustling. Frowning, I knitted my brows together when I heard him curse and grown.
“Are you out for camping in this cold!” I exclaimed and sighed. I know he loves nature but the weather is harsh last week...
“Well, I'm camping. But this time, I'm out because of you. You scared the sh*t out of me, man. I came back to your house and knocked but it was too late, like 3 in the morning late so I took the liberty to put on fire at the patio and... I guess I just fall asleep.” He said as I heard a door open and close.
“You could've stayed in the outhouse,” I said in frustration as I turned back towards the house.
“I know pal. I just forget due to all the things going on.” I gave him a hum, finally remembering why I called.
“Hey, you got anything else about this mystery guy?” I huffed.
“Nope. It's like he comes from the other ream and gives the letter to your little Angel girlfriend who is a bad**s. She is right. We won't have anything about him until he wants us to.” Antonio finished with a defeated sign.
“It’s okay buddy, you freshen up, I'll come with some clothes for you and we’ll have breakfast,” I said and disconnect the call after hearing the affirmative answer.
As I walked into the house after doing the rest of my exercise outside, I saw Sapphire holding a baseball bat up over her head. Her wet hair made the part obvious that she already completed her workout and took a bath. She doesn't go for runs and all but she does maintain her indoor exercise and yoga routine.
My t-shirt was so big for her that it almost covered her knees and not to mention the extra skin that was in my view when the sleeve of my t-shirt fell off her shoulder. I gulped, catching my breath as it was restless due to all the workout.
I covered my smile and moved towards her, tiptoeing. She was looking at something that was outside. I followed her eyes and found a tall man opening the door of the outhouse. I signed and...
“Ah! You scoundrel! Who are you and what are you doing in my house!!” I laughed but it turned into a gasped as a sharp blow hit my jaw and I stumbled back.
“Wow! I didn't know you have so much powerful punch.” I rubbed my jaw as it stings. She does have a good punch. I noted to never piss her off again.
“Oh, God! I'm so sorry, I thought that there are many more of them! I'm so sorry, love!” I babbled continuously as she took my face in her hand and ran her hand over my jaw.
“It’s okay, Angel. But what are you doing with the baseball bat over your head?” her eyes widened and she took the bat back in her delicate hands.
“There are trespassers in the property, look.” She whispers yelled and pointed towards the outhouse.
“No Angel, there is no one trespassing the house. It was Antonio you saw. He came here last night after we talked.” I chuckled but groaned as I felt the stingy feeling on my lips.
“Ohh! But come to the kitchen I'll patch you up immediately.” She rushed me to the kitchen and took the first aid kit out of the cabinet and did the work. I, on the other hand, sat silently, looking at her stunning face as she scolded herself for overreacting.
Her pout made me kiss her soft lips. She took in a deep breath but didn't pull back. I felt her smile and reciprocated as I kissed her forehead and pulled her rosy cheeks before sitting on the kitchen island as she rubbed her cheeks and kept the first aid kit away.
I walked up to my room and took a quick shower before changing into a comfortable pair of jeans and a shirt. I took my oversized t-shirt and sweatpants for Antonio and went to the outhouse after informing Sapphire.
After giving him the clothes, I went back to the kitchen.
“Angel, Antonio will be having breakfast with us.” I took the fruits out of the pantry and sliced them.
“Yeah, already arranged, love. Just... Just don't tell him about my baseball bat scene.” She blushed in embarrassment and flipped the pancake.
“Sure.” I smiled and we heard a knock from the back door. I nodded at the remaining fruits and went to open the door. Antonio smiled at me but then frowned as looked at my face.
“What happened to your face, boy? Did you got yourself into a fight with a bear?” He jests and went straight to the kitchen as he smelt the heavenly smell of Pancakes and waffles.
“Hahaha! You know what? It was more like a wildfire cat attacked me just because I signed without any pre-announcement.” I smirked as I saw Sapphire turn around to hide her face. Now, Antonio is a smart man and I should have known better than to make fun of myself in front of him. Cause the whole house was filled with this grown man’s laughter.
“Did your girlfriend hit you? Adam Anderson Black was punched by his girl.” He practically screamed this sentence ten times as he fell off the island stool, laughing.
To be honest, if it would have been anyone else who is not her, he would have been admitted to the hospital by now. I'm not a bad boy for nothing. So, this reaction from Antonio was justified by my side. Anyone who knows me well knows that I have a very short temper.
And here I'm making myself a joke in front of my friend just to see the blush on that Angel faced beauty. Just then, I heard a snap which made me look up at Sapphire.
She stood tall over Antonio’s rolling figure and was now red but not with the cute blush, nope. This is called rage.
“You got my friend warped around your tiny fingers girl, I LOVE YOU.” Antonio screamed the last part and stood up putting his hand out for her to take.
“Thanks for the compliment but you don't get to slip past after laughing at my boyfriend...” Angel took his hand and before he can react the bulky man was thrown back on the floor with his hands pinned back.
“I told you, Anderson, she is a bad**s!” he tapped his other hand on the floor and Angel immediately released him and helped him up.
“Thanks, buddy. I think we are going to be very good friends cause I love you too!” She shook his hand by force and moved back to take the waffles out of the waffle maker. Antonio on the other hand was too confused by her statement which made me laugh.
“Thanks for what?” Antonio asked when she was out of the hearing area. I leaned over at him before answering.
“She knows you fall off without any resistance.” He looked at her in amazement and smiled.
“How she is so sharp? She almost caught me there.” He grabbed a few oranges slicesce and took the first bite.
“She trained with Luca Mortin, you know him right.” I tapped on the island as I continued to answer Antonio’s questions.
“That Italian mafia prince? Oh yeah, she is his best friend right?” I nodded my head and stood up to take the plates out for us.
“Adam, she is a keeper. She is beauty with brains, she is strong, not just physically but mentally too. You can't get anything more than this combination brother. She is perfect.” I shook my head and sighed looking at her relaxed shoulders but I could see the change in her beautiful smile.
The less she lets out, the more she is scared from inside. I didn't know I could understand someone from just the way they smile.
“She is indeed a strong one Charles.” I sat at the table and we had a great time together. Without any knots in our stomach.
