Vivienne Beaumont walked into her room the next morning carrying her suitcase and feeling a little nervous. The room smelled nice, like laundry and flowers. The big bed and fancy furniture looked great. What really caught her attention was the door that connected to the nursery. She thought about Finn, the baby and how he had already found a place in her heart.
Vivienne put away her clothes and a few books. Then she touched her moms old locket. It made her feel nostalgic and determined. "This is for us " she said to herself. She did not want to be stuck in debt not when she had this chance to start fresh.
Genevieve came in a while later looking very efficient as always. "Mr. Laurent is in meetings all day. Finn woke up early. Is being fussy. I think he can tell that things are changing."
Vivienne followed Genevieve to the nursery, where Finn was crying. Soon as he saw Vivienne he stopped crying and just sniffled. She picked him up. Held him close. "I'm here little boy. I'm not going anywhere." Finn held onto her sweater. Buried his face in her neck. Vivienne felt a bond with him like a big wave of love. She had never felt this way before not with her old boyfriends or family members. This baby needed her. She needed him too.
The morning was really nice. Vivienne fed Finn changed his diaper and played with him on the floor. He was six months old and already very strong. Vivienne lay down next to him. Encouraged him to move around. He reached out. Touched her face and she felt happy and silly. "You're going to break hearts one day Finn Laurent " she said. "Just like your dad." She felt a little embarrassed saying that. It was true.
They had a time together. Vivienne read books to Finn. He listened carefully. When he got fussy she carried him around in a sling and he fell asleep on her shoulder. She sang a song to him one that her grandmother used to sing. Finn liked it. He slept peacefully in her arms.
Killian came home earlier than expected. Vivienne felt his presence before she saw him like an energy filling the room. He looked tired. His eyes lit up when he saw her and Finn. "He's asleep on you again " he said, his voice. Rough.
Vivienne said, "He wouldn't sleep otherwise." Killian came closer. Vivienne felt her heart beat faster. He smelled good like a mix of wood and spice. He reached out. Touched Finns back and his fingers brushed against Viviennes. It felt like sparks flying.
Killian said, "Thank you." His voice was full of emotion like he was really grateful. Vivienne looked at him. Felt a connection. "He's amazing " she said. "So strong already." Killians face changed, like he was fighting his feelings. He wanted to say more. He didn't.
They talked for a while. Vivienne told Killian all about Finns day. Killian listened carefully his eyes never leaving her face. They laughed together. For a moment Killian looked happy and relaxed. Vivienne felt like she was getting to know him like she was seeing a different side of him.
When Genevieve came in to say that lunch was ready Killian stood up. Said, "Join me Vivienne." They ate together with Finn in a chair between them. The conversation was easy like they were friends. Vivienne told Killian about her classes. He talked about his company and his plans for Finns future. Vivienne was impressed like she was seeing an interesting person.
After lunch they played with Finn some more. Killian joined in building blocks with the baby while Vivienne guided his hands. Their knees. Vivienne felt a spark. Finn crawled between them babbling and reaching for both like he was bringing them together.
As the sun started to set Finn got tired. Vivienne rocked him to sleep singing softly. Killian watched, his eyes hooded and intense. When Finn finally slept Vivienne stood up stretching. Her top rode up. Killians breath caught. "I should get ready for tomorrow " she said,. She didn't want to leave.
Killian nodded,. He looked like he wanted her to stay. "You've done a job " he said. "We both needed this." His voice was vulnerable like he was showing his feelings. He stepped closer his hand on her elbow. "Stay longer time. We can have dinner, talk."
Viviennes stomach fluttered. "I'd like that " she said, looking at him. They held each others gaze like they were making a promise. Vivienne wanted to feel his hands on her his weight on top of her filling the emptiness, inside her.. It was too soon too complicated.
Vivienne left the nursery. It was hard for her to do that. She took a things with her to go back to her old apartment for a little while. Genevieve got a car for her. When the car drove away from the house Vivienne looked back at the house. It was getting dark. The house looked really nice. Finns dad had made everything okay for her. She was ready to do this.
Killian was standing at the window of his office watching the car drive away. He could not stop thinking about Vivienne. He thought about the way she held Finn, her smile and her green eyes when she talked to him. He felt bad because he wanted her much. He poured himself a drink. He did not drink it. There was a picture of Marguerite on the wall. He did not feel as bad as he used to. Vivienne made him feel alive.
Killian thought about everything that happened. He thought about how strong Vivienne was, even when she had problems. He thought about the way she walked with Finn and the way her lips looked when he touched her. He wanted to be with her to hear her say his name to see her happy. He felt things he had not felt in a time. He wanted to take care of her to keep her safe. He knew she was too young for him. He had a lot of problems but he could not help how he felt.
Then Killian heard a noise outside. Someone was in the garden. They left quickly. Killian was a little worried. He started thinking about Vivienne again. He took out his phone. Sent a message to Rhys. He wanted to know more about Vivienne to keep her safe.
Vivienne was at her apartment packing boxes. Her phone. It was a message from someone she did not know. The message said "you will not be happy for long. He will come back to me". There was a picture of Killian and a blonde woman. The womans name was Celeste. Vivienne was scared. She did not want to run away. She thought about Finn and Killian. She knew she would stay.
Killian was, at his office. He could not work. He missed Vivienne. He wanted her to come back. He poured himself another drink. He looked out the window. Vivienne was all he could think about. She was the nanny who had changed everything for him.
