Hidden Debts

Vivienne Beaumont woke up to the sound of Finn crying softly through the door that connected their rooms. She got out of bed quickly. Put on a comfortable tank top and leggings. When she looked in the mirror she saw eyes but she was determined to take care of Finn. The message she got the night before had scared her but Finn needed her now.

She went into the nursery. Picked up Finn from his crib. He stopped crying soon as she held him close. " Morning my sweet boy " she said, kissing his curly hair. Holding him made her feel better. She fed him changed his diaper and played with him on the mat. Finn was getting bigger. Could roll over now. He even reached out for her with his hands. Vivienne loved him much and she could not imagine leaving him.

Genevieve brought them breakfast. Vivienne noticed that Genevieve was watching her. "Mr. Laurent will join you for lunch if he can " Genevieve said. "He seemed a little distracted this morning."

Vivienne felt her cheeks get warm when she thought about Mr. Laurent. She had felt something when he touched her before. She was scared of how she felt because he was older and more powerful than her.. She focused on taking care of Finn. She sang to him. Played with him and they had a great time together.

Meanwhile Killian Laurent was in his office staring out the window. He had not slept well because he was thinking about Vivienne. He wanted to know more about her so he called his assistant, Rhys. "I need you to find out everything about Vivienne Beaumont " he said. "I want to know about her finances, her family and her connections."

Rhys came in with a tablet. Said, "Yes, sir?"

"Run a full background check on her " Killian said. ". Be discreet. I want the report by the end of the day."

Rhys raised an eyebrow. Did not ask any questions. "Understood, sir. Is there anything you want me to look for?"

Killian thought for a moment. "She mentioned debts. Check if that's true.. See if there's anything that could be a threat to this household."

Back at the estate Vivienne was taking care of Finn. She took him for a walk in the garden. Showed him the flowers. Finn was happy and cooing. Vivienne felt at peace. She could not stop thinking about Killian. She wondered what it would be like if he held her close and kissed her.

When it was time for lunch Killian joined them. He took off his suit jacket. Sat down next to Vivienne. "You look good with Finn " he said, looking at her with eyes. Vivienne felt her heart skip a beat. They. Laughed together and Vivienne felt like she was part of the family.

After lunch Killian stayed with them for a while. Finn was. Killian and Vivienne were alone. The air was thick with tension. Killian stepped close to Vivienne. Touched her chin. "You unsettle me Vivienne " he said. "In ways I did not expect."

Vivienne felt her heart racing. "I feel it too " she said, her voice above a whisper. Killian leaned in close. Vivienne thought he was going to kiss her.. Then his phone rang and he had to leave.

Vivienne was disappointed. She knew she had to focus on taking care of Finn. She played with him. Read to him but she could not stop thinking about Killian. She wondered what he wanted to talk to her about.

That day Rhys came to Killians office with a report. "Sir we found some things " Rhys said. "Vivienne has a record but there are some unusual patterns in her finances. It looks like she might be covering for someone or hiding something."

Killians eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?" he asked.

Rhys explained that Viviennes mother had left her with a lot of debt and Vivienne had been trying to pay it off.. There were some large transfers in her account that did not make sense. "It's possible that shes involved in something shes not telling us " Rhys said.

Killian felt a pang of betrayal. He also felt a strong desire to protect Vivienne. He wanted to know the truth. He was scared of what he might find. He told Rhys to keep digging and to be quiet about it.

That evening Killian went back to the estate determined to talk to Vivienne. He found her in the hallway. He could see that she was nervous. "We need to talk about your past " he said, his voice firm but gentle. "I want to know about your debts and your family."

Vivienne looked up at him her eyes shining with tears. "I told you about my mothers bills " she said. "I didn't want to burden you with my problems."

Killian felt a surge of emotion. He wanted to believe her. He was scared of being hurt again. He reached out. Touched her face and Vivienne felt a spark of electricity. "I want to trust you Vivienne " he said. "For Finns sake and for mine."

Viviennes heart was racing. She knew that she had to tell him the truth. She was scared of what he might think. She looked up at him her eyes locked on his. She knew that she had to take a chance. "I wouldn't hurt Finn or you " she said, her voice above a whisper.

Killians eyes searched hers. For a moment they just looked at each other. Then Finn cried out. Killian stepped back. "Later " he said. "We'll talk later."

Vivienne nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. She knew that she had to be honest, with Killian. She was scared of what might happen. She took a breath and followed Killian to the nursery wondering what the future held for them.

Vivienne followed him her heart pounding in her chest. The closeness between them left her feeling wet. Wanting more but fear was starting to edge in. Someone was digging into her life. It was really scary. There were these messages and now this was happening. She picked up Finn when he started to fuss. She rocked him back and forth while Killian watched her his face not giving away what he was thinking. The bond between Vivienne and Killian and Finn felt stronger than it ever had. There were cracks starting to show.

As the evening fell Killian stayed close to her helping with bath time for Finn. Water was splashing everywhere as Finn kicked his legs happily in the tub. Vivienne was kneeling beside the tub. Her shirt was getting wetter by the minute, which made her n*****s stand out really clearly. Killian could not. Stare at her and it was clear that he was struggling to control himself. He handed her a towel. His fingers touched hers for a moment. "You are really incredible with Finn " he said to her.

Vivienne smiled at him. She was still worried and her emotions were all over her face. The moment they shared felt really heavy, full of promise and danger at the time.

That night Killian was alone in his study going over the report again after Vivienne had gone to her suite. The part about the Beaumont transfers was really shocking. It seemed like it could be a big scandal. He picked up his phone. Dialed Rhys. "I need you to find the connection, to Miles " he said. "I want to know everything."
