Have you ever been in a situation where intrigue won over your own innate desire to survive?
_______
Name: Kassandra Stack
-----------
She lay entangled in a heap of wires and vines, some piercing her skin as her target walked towards her slowly.
She'd been hired for a job; namely, to track down this man, retrieve an item in his possession and kill him. Now though, she was incapacitated and at his mercy.
How the tables had turned.
"If you're going to kill me then get it over with and stop wasting my time you theatrical bastard." She said through gritted teeth.
She'd been beaten thoroughly. All her tricks seemed ineffective against the man. Why? She did not know. All she knew was that she had failed. She'd been beaten without a fight, almost as if the man had known every move she was going to make before she knew it.
Had she been betrayed? No. Somehow she knew that wasn't the case. The man had simply outsmarted her. He'd prepared for the eventuality of an assassination attempt.
What kind of life did he live to have that on his list of possible occurrences?
She would never live long enough to find out. Somewhere deep in her still, resented the truth and kept trying to use her abilities to distract the man but nothing worked.
"You're eyes... they glow red." He said, pausing mid step.

It was starting to sink in that escape was not possible.
She watched the man as he walked closer to her, his oversized brown jacket hiding what she was sure was a battle hardened build. Even if she could free herself of her restrictions, she might not win in a fight against him.
He had no visible weapon but he still had a dangerous aura that had been setting off warning bells in her head ever since she saw him.
He stalked over to her with what looked like interest in his eyes. Squatting till she could make out every detail of his face clearly, he spoke.
"And why would I need your eyes when I see even better with mine?" He said, c*****g his head sideways and making a swiping motion with his hand.
In the moment, his eyes glowed a bright gold that passed on one frightening message;
He outclassed her in every single way...
