Chapter 13

Elena lifted her head, her bloodied face screaming, eyes red with tears: “She’s just a child… She’s your own niece!” Diana stopped, tilting her head to study Elena like she was a broken toy. Her voice was even, but pierced like a knife: “Niece? Elena, don’t be so naïve. Blood ties in this family have never come free. You should’ve known that the day you chose to marry a banished Lang wolf.” “I… I love him.” Elena whispered, lips bleeding from how hard she’d bitten them. “I don’t need your acceptance… I just want my daughter back…” “Love?” Diana let out a laugh, shrill as nails scraping glass. “You’re no longer the prodigy Omega, Elena. You turned yourself into a worthless shell. You should’ve thought about that before birthing a bastard’s child.” “She’s not trash!…” Elena screamed, crawling forward, clutching at the hem of Diana’s pants. “Whatever you want, I’ll give it! I’ll sign the transfer papers! Please, just stop…” Diana yanked her leg back and kicked Elena hard in the chest, sending her sprawling. Her voice was ice: “You think I need your signature? The papers are already prepared. All you need to do is leave a fingerprint. Tonight. Right here. If not—” “What’ll be left of your daughter will just be an empty corpse!” “STOP! DON’T DO THIS, I’M BEGGING YOU!!” Elena screamed until her voice cracked, slamming her hands on the glass until they bled. Diana stared, unblinking: “The girl has a mutated gene. She could awaken at peak Alpha level. Maybe even beyond. A perfect specimen.” Elena dropped to her knees, clutching her chest as if suffocating: “Stop talking… please stop…” A slap landed across Elena’s face—not from Diana, but a guard behind her. She collapsed, blood spilling from her lips. “Keep screaming and we’ll show you a dozen ways to shut up.” the guard growled, yanking her up by the hair. Elena gasped, her voice trembling: “I… I’ll sign… Just don’t draw any more blood from her. Please, let me see her one last time…” Diana looked up without a word. Another kick. Elena crumpled to the ground like a doll with a broken neck. Diana had hated her for a long time—someone who outshone her in everything. Now was her chance for revenge. Watching Elena writhe and scream only delighted her more. At that moment, a metallic screech rang out from inside. Elena’s head snapped up in panic—her daughter was convulsing, limbs twisted from anaphylactic shock. “STOP! DON’T INJECT HER ANYMORE! SHE CAN’T TAKE IT!” Elena shrieked, clawing desperately at the glass. A lab technician turned around, confused: “The specimen can’t tolerate high dosage. Should we pause?” Diana’s lips curled, eyes sharp as blades: “No need. Increase by another 0.5ml. It’s got a strange mutation. It won’t die.” Elena turned to stone. Her legs buckled. The child thrashed on the lab table, unable to make a sound with her throat clamped shut. Elena screamed again, hoarse, utterly broken: “Give me the contract! Please!” Diana waved her hand. “Bring the contract.” A staff member stepped forward with a fingerprint scanner. Elena, trembling, blood staining her hands, reached her thumb toward the machine—then paused. “Just the fingerprint, right?” Elena choked out. “You’ll give her back, won’t you?” She pressed her bloodied thumb down. Beep. Green light. The ownership transfer completed. The documents were immediately collected—no chance to revoke. Diana smiled. “Good girl. You finally learned.” Elena stared at her, whispering: “Give… her back… to me…” Diana chuckled softly: “Give her back? Elena… Giving is an act of goodwill. And I never promised to be kind.” Elena froze. Her finger lingered in midair. Diana’s smile remained, but her gaze turned glacial: “She’ll remain under observation. At least until her vitals stabilize.” “You promised…” “I did. And I kept my word—you got to see her,” Diana leaned in close, murmuring: “Don’t even dream of taking her from here. A broken Omega like you has no right to raise a child with superior genes. Even if you birthed her, she’s not yours.” Elena trembled, eyes wide, voice choked: “You can’t…” “I can.” Diana straightened, not sparing her a glance. “Keep her here. Treat her… accordingly.” Then she turned and walked away as if she'd just closed a real estate deal, completely emotionless. The door slammed shut behind her. Elena screamed: “I SIGNED! GIVE HER BACK TO ME! I SIGNED IT!!!” Her shriek echoed, shrill and sharp against the cold white walls. No one responded. Instead, several men in protective suits approached, their expressions blank as machines. “She’s not being cooperative. Time for a lesson.” Elena thrashed, but her wrists were tied. All she could do was kick, shake her head, scream until her throat gave out. A brutal slap struck her face, blooming red, blood leaking from her lips. “Please… don’t hit… don’t… my child…” A punch to her gut. Elena doubled over, retching blood and bile. “You think signing means you get to bargain? Who do you think you are?” “Elena, huh? Thought a rich surname meant something?” “You’re nothing now. Shares are signed. You’re no better than a stray mutt. A b***h in heat.” The man who hit her stood there a moment, then sneered: “Shame to waste a body this fine. Miss Diana said we should ‘take care’ of her.” He bent down, tugging her shirt up. Elena kicked and screamed hoarsely: “NO! DON’T! I’M BEGGING YOU… PLEASE…” She scratched, bit, kicked—but they pinned her down. Her eyes were wide with despair, like a cornered animal. The door… Stayed closed. No one came. No one heard. No one cared.
