One last chance

I looked around nervously as I saw those hungry eyes looking at me. From what I saw yesterday, I didn't have a chance of escaping. So I decided to try and talk to them. But deep down inside, I doubted that idea. "Sit there." The glasses guy pushed me to a chair. I barely caught my balance as I almost fell from his push. (Maybe I shouldn't try to say anything...) I was shaking a lot as thoughts raced in my mind.

"What's wrong, getting frightened just from that? We haven't even started!" Ayato sneered at me while saying that. I clenched my teeth as I felt helpless and unable to reply.

"Looks like she'll die fast, teddy..." I heard a faint voice so I looked and saw the shortest boy in the group giving me the creepiest smile that I ever saw.

"Enough all of you. I brought her here for her to know the rules of this mansion, not for you to play around." The glasses guy said in a loud voice so everyone could hear him. He looked at me. "Listen well, you have no choice but to live here and while you're doing so you'll follow my rules. Do I make myself clear?" I nodded as I had nothing to say. "Good. I see you already wore your uniform. Note my words, from now on you will be attending a night school. It is the same school that we attend so do not try unreasonable actions. You are not allowed to make friends or even talk with anyone beside the six of us. You understand?"

"May I ask why is that?" I was surprised as found myself asking him with no fear in my voice.

"So you can't get people to help you, airhead!" The albino guy yelled near me.

"No need to answer her, Subaru. And you..." he looked at me. "You shall not ask any unnecessary questions since you value no more than a mere livestock." His look turned into a heavy glare as I froze in my place. "Now, for the introductions..." he said as he was normal again. "I am Reiji, the second son of this family. The first son is the one laying over there, he is named Shuu. The third son is Ayato. The fourth is Kanato. The fifth is Laito and the last is Subaru." He said and pointed to each one as he said their names.

"Better hurry if you don't want to be late for school b***h-chan. You only have ten minutes left." Laito said grinning.

It took me a while to fully understand. "What?! Why didn't you tell me sooner?!" I said as I jumped out of my place. "Where's my bag?"

"It is in your room. And do not raise your voice." Reiji said fixing his glasses.

"Okay. Sorry. I'll be here in five minutes!" I said as I ran upstairs. I went running in the corridors crazily as I looked for my room which I forgot where it was. After a lot of running, I finally found it so I went inside and started looking for my bag. When I found it, I ran again to find the main room. Soon I was standing in front of the six vampires again, panting.

"Whoa... Why do you look like you just ran a mile? You was just supposed to get your bag." Ayato said in a surprised tone.

"I... lost... my way..." I said slowly trying to catch my breath.

I raised my head as I heard them laugh at me. "You're so helpless you know, b***h-chan?" Laito said as he went somewhere. "If you got lost that fast, then you'll probably need a guide to outside won't you?" He then opened the door that was locked yesterday. (It's not locked anymore...?) I thought as I felt like I still had a chance. (I just need now to wait until they're not paying attention so I can escape safely...) I followed Laito outside to see a huge limousine in front of me.

My jaw literally dropped as I saw it. "Wow..." I found no other words to describe my amazement.

"Hey! You want to be left behind?" I got out of my daze as I felt a strong slap on my back. I turned to see Subaru glaring at me again. I shook my head as an answer and went inside the vehicle. (Come to think of it, why he's always glaring at me? Is he still mad that I didn't hear him last time...?) I thought as I sat down. I really wanted to ask but then I remembered that my life was still in danger since I knew nothing about the brothers. That's why I decided not to talk to anyone of them until I really know who was I dealing with.

I got glued to the window when we reached our destination. As the manor and the limousine, the school too looked very classy, with its elegant design that also reminded me of the Middle Ages. I stared at the building admiring it. (Maybe there are some good sides to this...) "b***h-chan... b***h-chan..." my thoughts were interrupted by Laito as he waved his hands round in my face. I looked at him confused. "Finally out of it, b***h-chan? Did you hear what we just said?"

"No..." I said in a low voice.

He sighed. "I said that your class is the same as Subaru's. You got it?"

I nodded. "Then quit wasting my time. Move it or we'll be late!" Subaru yelled angrily again. I followed him as I began to lose my patience. (Why is he so angry? It's just one mistake!) I couldn't understand him that time so I decided to watch him closely.

As I was walking behind Subaru, I was looking both sides and scanning the whole school. The inside was good as the outside and I felt important walking in a place like that. (I guess whoever those vampires are, they are quite rich to afford studying in a place like this...) I thought looking in front of me when I... "Whoa! Why did you stop?" I said almost bumping into Subaru's back.

"We're here idiot." He said and got inside. "You wait here until the teacher come. Don't cause me trouble alright?" I nodded and waited outside. Soon the teacher came and let me inside. I introduced myself trying to make myself as pale as possible so I won't catch attention. I sighed in relief as it worked and went to sit where the teacher pointed.

I felt luck running away from me when I saw who was next to me. (Of all people, why do I have to sit here?!) I screamed in my head seeing Subaru beside me. (But it's my chance for me to know more about him!) I looked at him. He was sitting leg-crossed with both of his hands in his pockets (Okay, he hates classes.) I kept eyeing him carefully every while. When the teacher looked at him to pick him, Subaru glared at him. I got surprised as I watched the teacher getting nervous and moving on the task to another students. The same scenario took place in several other classes. (He hates teachers too and most teachers avoid ticking him...) that was my second conclusion. The last came when it was break time and we all got to eat. As the bell rang, in seconds, he was already outside and going off somewhere. I followed him secretly. Finally he settled in a far place from the class and sat eating there. (He also hates other students and prefer to be alone...) I thought then tried to figure out his personality from what I got so far. (He is not a delinquent and obviously not a cast out... he's...)

"A loner..." I said not noticing myself.

"Who's there? Show yourself if you don't want me to beat the hell out of you!" I jumped as he yelled after he noticed that I was there. I couldn't stop myself as I ran like a frightened chicken looking for my class. I stopped when I saw the students looking at me. I looked around to see find that I didn't know where I was. I was lost again.

After a lot of thinking, I decided to wander around the school since I still had time on my hands. (Maybe then I'll get to see one of the six and he can help me get back to my class...) I thought as I walked. I automatically hid when I saw a familiar face approaching. (It's Laito...) His name echoed in my mind as I watched him walk around with two girls. I studied the way he looked at them and how he placed his hands on their waists... (No mistake about it! This guy is a womanizer! Not to forget being a pervert!) I needn't more signs to know that he was dangerous. That's why I decided to avoid him as much as possible.

The next place I found myself in was the second years section. I carefully pocked my head in looking for anyone of the brothers. Finally I found both of Ayato and Kanato in one class. (Why are they in the same class? Don't tell me... twins?!) I shook my head as the idea looked ridiculous to me. But then I remembered the small Kanato being older than Subaru... that's when I realized that nothing was impossible in that house.

The first one for me to watch was Ayato. The guy had friends. And if I didn't know him, I wouldn't even imagine that he was a vampire since he was acting so normally. The only thing I noticed about him was how cocky he was. I mean why would anyone add "sama" to his name if he wasn't? And why does he has to say "I" in every sentence for three or four times? Not to mention that every topic they talk about he turns it and make it about himself. I really wondered how his friends can tolerate that...

The second one, Kanato, gave me dangerous vibes as I laid my eyes on him. From what I saw, he had this bear that he called him teddy and he treats that bear like a normal person. More like his friend actually. And from what my instinct told me, the one thing I should never touch in that mansion was that bear.

I went then in a different direction and found myself in front of the music room. I looked inside to see no one in there. "Excuse me..." I said as opened the door slowly. I closed the door as I took some steps inside and looked at the different instruments that were inside. There was a piano, a set of violins, a cello and some other small ones.

I got closer to the piano and touched it. I moved my hand as I felt its keys. "Don't touch that..."

"Holy-!" I caught myself from screaming at the last second. I turned around looking for where the voice came from. "Shuu-san? What are you doing here?" I said when I found the blond vampire sleeping on the floor.

"Nothing that concerns you. Get out of here." He briefly said and went back to sleep.

I shrugged. (Maybe I can come back later when he's not here...) I thought as I left the room and went on with my way. (I wonder if he can stay awake at all...) the only thing that was obvious about Shuu was how much he loved sleeping. Sleeping on the floor was a good proof.

The last place I ended up in was the library. I looked eye widened at the big closet that held hundreds if not thousands of books. SecondS later I found myself on a table reading a 500 pages book. My favorite hobby was reading books. I started with a small fairytale book at first. Soon I finished reading all the books in my closet and asked father for more. (Come to think of it, does the mansion has a library too?) I asked myself as I flipped the next page.

I got so absorbed in reading that I forgot the world around me. "Hey... hey! Can't she hear me?" I kept hearing sounds behind me but I didn't care since the book I was reading was so interesting. "Hey! Snap out of it!"

"Hyaa!" I jumped as I felt a gentle tap on my back. I didn't notice as my hand flew while still holding the book and hit something. I opened my eyes to see Subaru glaring at me with his face red from the book slap that I gave him. "S-Subaru?! I'm sorry did I hit you?" I placed the book on the table and moved my hand to touch his cheek.

"Save it. I'll get you back later. Let's just go to class now cause I'm in no mood to hear another lecture from him." He slapped my hand away and pointed with his thumb to the right. I looked to see Reiji there and he too, wasn't in a good mood. "Start moving!" Subaru said as he pulled me from my hand.

"B-but! My heaven!" I said trying to reach for the book.

"Your what? Come on! You can come back later!" He pulled me harder.

"Just ten minutes! Please!" I pulled the other way harder too.

"You persistent-" he finally stopped. I let go of his hand as I thought that he finally gave up. I was wrong.

"What are you-" I said when I felt myself going up. Seconds later I was held by Subaru's left arm like a potato sack. "Let me down!"

"Just shut up and stop causing me trouble." He ignored me and went out of the library. After a lot of struggles I finally gave up.

What bothering me the most was the pose he held me up with. (I need to get out of this...) I thought as I looked around and saw people whispering. "Subaru-san, you can put me down now..." he didn't reply. "Subaru-san, you're giving people some wrong ideas..." I said trying to get his attention.

"Wrong ideas? Like what?"

"Like... were are... boyfriend and girlfriend..." I said in embarrassment.

It took him some time to grasp what I said as his face slowly turned red. "Wha-" he suddenly stopped and dropped me on the floor.

"Oof..." I fell like a flatten fish, my face planted into the floor.

"Hey, are you alright...?" He called out to me when he finally realized his mistake.

"I think so... I think we're even now aren't we?" I gave him a cold look as I said that "Excuse me." I made my way to the class which was near us. My nose kept hurting for the rest of the classes.

The first thing I did when I came home was going to my room and checking my nose. And as I thought, It looked like a baked tomato as it was red and swollen. I sighed then went to ask Reiji for something to fix it. I knocked the door. "Reiji-san, can I go in?" He didn't answer. "Reiji-san? Are you there?" I said as I looked into the keyhole. (He's in there...) "If you don't want me to go in, can you at least tell me where can I find a first aid kit?"

The door opened and then I heard a sigh. "This is your first day here and you got yourself injured already? Tell me, where did you hurt- oh..." he stopped as soon as he looked at my face.

"It's obvious isn't it? I'm sorry for disturbing you." I bowed a little.

"Come in. I can not have you walk around like this." He opened the door more and I went in. His room was so neat with its cupboards to the side of the bed. The room had a mirror too along with a table in front of it and a sofa next to it. I stood there admiring the decor when Reiji went to one of the cupboards and took out a box. "Help yourself. Who did this to you?" He said giving the box to me.

"I fell while coming down the stairs." I didn't know why I lied but something told me that if I told the truth, something will happen to Subaru. I opened the box to see that it had all what I needed to heal my nose. "Thank you. I'll return it back to you when I'm do-"

"Keep it. You may need it for other injuries." Reiji said that and went back to the cupboard. My face brightened a little. (Maybe he's not a bad persons after all...) I thought as I felt relived a little. "What are you still doing here? Hurry outside. Your smell is making me feel nauseous." My face darkened again. (I take back my words...)

I was about to go out of the room when I remembered something. "Reiji-san..." he didn't look at me. "Since I'm going to die anyway, can I at least explore this mansion before that?"

"Suit yourself. But I will not take responsibility if you get hurt while doing so." He said in a bored tone.

I went out and closed the door. (If they want to keep he here, can't they at least treat me with respect? What did I even do to upset them?) I walked back to my room still trying to find an answer. When I reached my room, I went straight to the mirror to cure my nose. Ten minutes later I was looking at a huge white ball in my face. I chuckled seeing myself like that.

I got out of my room to see if I still had a chance if escaping. I walked in the hallways that seemed endless and looked around. The manor was so big and the rooms was everywhere. I easily got lost so I decided to take a look into the rooms and and try to remember the places of them. I stopped in front of the first room on my way. I looked into the keyhole trying not to be rash with my actions. (No one's inside...) I got in slowly when I found the room empty. The room looked childish as the floor was filled with toys. The room had a huge bed so I felt surprised since I thought that it was a children's room. "What are you doing here..." I froze when I heard a cold whisper behind me.

"Kanato-san...?" I said not turning around as I recognized the voice.

I got no response. "GET OUT OF HERE!" He suddenly yelled and I immediately ran after I heard him.

I stopped in front of another room after I was tired of running. (Should I do this again...?) I thought seeing that my first try ended up in a huge failure. (I'm dead anyway so I got nothing to lose I think...) I gathered up my courage and looked in the keyhole again. (What is this...) I thought when I saw something moving but didn't know what it was. After a while of staring I found out that it was Subaru. (Looks like I need to come back later...) I thought that but I found myself unable to stop staring. I shut up a squeal as he started taking off his shirt. (What am I doing?!) I suddenly pulled away when I felt embarrassed of what I was doing. And to my bad luck, I accidentally hit my head by the door while lifting it up.

"Ayato! I told you that I'm not doing that shitty-" Subaru surprised me when he opened the door to his room.

We both stopped, not moving a muscle. "AAAAAARHG!"

"AAAAAAAAH!" We both screamed at the same time. It didn't take me seconds to run away with my hands on my face hiding it. I felt my face getting hotter every time I remembered what I saw. I stopped in a corner to catch my breath and try to erase that image of my mind. I felt so ashamed of myself for doing what I did, and decided that I'll never look in a keyhole again. (But he was really hot... I wonder if all vampires have that kind of fair skin...) I slapped myself when I realized what I was doing. (No no! I need to forget this... maybe if I sleep I'll be able to do that...) I thought giving up on the thought of running away and returned to my room.

I opened the door as I was there and opened the lights. (I don't remember switching off the lights...) I looked around. (Something's weird... this is not my room...) I stood there confused. (If it's not my room, then who does it belong to?) I got in more and looked around. (There's a person in the bed!)

"Oh my..." I said without noticing as I saw who was in that bed.
