Chapter 8

Thanks for all of the new reviews! One day late but I think it's forgivable since I have exams?

Just wrote this yesterday. Going to try writing more this weekend so I can't be late again ^^

I own nothing in this fanfic since the main charachter, Nami, belongs to Shiranai Atsune. (And of course DL belongs to its respective owners)

The vision of Shuu's past definitely answered more of my question, unlike the rest. What I understood was that Shuu's mother forced him to do a lot of work. That most likely was due to him being the oldest son in the house. Though it was only how I translated things, I was almost sure that it was close to the truth. And with the memory answering my question better, I knew that I was also getting a little better in this.

I was dizzy from Shuu when Ayato also came and finished the job, making me go to my room wobbling like a drunken man. I sighed deeply as I laid down in my bed trying to rest a bit and prepare myself for another endless night. I wasn't given the chance though as Kanato appeared before me. He was hugging his teddy like always as he looked at me for a while.

"Play with me..." he started.

I blinked. "Play...?"

"Yes... I want you to play a game with me... If you lose, I'll get to do whatever I want to you. If I lose, I'll do what you ask from me... okay?" He smiled normally and I thought that it was weird. He was definitely plotting something.

"What do you want to play?" I asked trying to go with the flow and maybe then I could know more about Kanato.

"Anything you want... as long it's fun..." he replied.

That placed me in an awkward position. When I was young, I barely made contact with other children so I wasn't that familiar with games. But I had a memory of me playing with other kids one day. It was really fun... (If I only could remember the name of the game...) I thought.

"Hide and... seek?" I placed my hand on my mouth when I realized that I said that out loud.

Kanato's eyes brightened. "You want to play it? Teddy and I love this game!" He said all of a sudden.

"Oh, I'm glad..." I mentally slapped myself for going to my room instead of just hiding elsewhere. I could've had more rest then. "Ok. You'll hide, and I'll try to find you. If I find you, then you'll promise that you won't drink my blood for today, deal?" I tried to take advantage of the situation a bit.

"Okay. Close your eyes and count to ten. If you don't find me in ten minutes, it's my win." He said

I nodded and closed my eyes. "One, two, three..." I heard the door open. When I reached ten, I took a deep breath and started searching. I ran around looking for the lavender-haired boy in every room I pass by. After several minutes passing, I realized how stupid I was for agreeing on playing with him. He clearly had the upper hand as he knew every inch of his house, not to mention that I was a novice too.

My heart started beating in my chest as I thought of what'll will happen to me if I lost then game. I looked around in every room I knew and found nothing. That's why I tried to look in new rooms that I didn't go in before. Soon I found myself in a weird looking place. It was filled with huge doll-like modules that all wore a wedding dress for some reason. I smiled when I saw Kanato there. He was hiding behind one module using her dress to cover himself. I was about to call out his name when suddenly he wasn't there anymore.

"Time up... I win..." I slowly turned to see Kanato behind me. His smile was wider than ever and stared at me like I was his next meal.

"But you were... right there..." I found no words to speak.

"And who told you that I would stay there and let you win?" He smiled devilishly and I was finally able to grasp what happened.

"You... you cheated!" I yelled at him.

He laughed. "I don't remember having any rule beside what we agreed on earlier... it's your fault for not thinking and agreeing quickly in the first place... right, teddy?" He talked to his bear and I felt blood boiling in my veins. "Don't look so angry... I had lots of fun... didn't you?"

"How could I?! I ran panting like a dog looking for you and now I have to be punished because you cheated?!" I said losing my nerves. I myself didn't know that I could be that angry.

Kanato didn't seem fazed by that. He was clearly enjoying his victory. "I wanted to show you this room later but you found it so I'll tell you about it..." he said moving closer to one of the modules and placed a hand on its dress. "Isn't she pretty? My precious doll..." he said and I was more furious because of him trying to change the subject. "She was just like you before... an annoying human that wouldn't know her place... that's why I waxed her and made her my doll..."

I froze. My anger changing to fear in mere seconds. "What...?"

He averted his eyes from the module and looked at me. "I wonder when I'll get to make you my doll too, Nami..."

I back away slightly looking around me and eyeing the module. (They were... real humans...?!) Fear enveloped my heart more as I realized why those figures looked so real. "YOU SICK FREAK!" I suddenly yelled and ran for my life.

I didn't care if I was tried, I didn't mind if it was useless, I didn't think where I was going. All what was on my mind was running away from that boy. (What did they ever do to him to receive such fate?! What did we humans ever do to be treated like this?!) I screamed in my head as I ran outside the manor. I stopped when I saw the huge closed gate that stood between and my freedom in front of me. (I need to look for another-)

"After all... you are just like them... a cowardly human trash..." I jumped and turned around quickly to see Kanato behind me again.

"Coward?! You expect me not to run away from you after I saw those dead..." I gulped not wanting to finish my sentence.

"You don't like my dolls...?" He said tilting his head.

"N-no! I don't like you or your dolls!" I said backing away slightly.

"Then I don't like you too..." he said and in seconds he was in front of me.

"Wha-" I stumbled and fell backwards on my butt. Soon enough I found Kanato's fangs in my neck sucking life out of me. "Get away from me you-" I tried to push him away but I was still tired from Shuu's and Ayato's attack. I felt myself fading but I kept trying to push him.

I blinked and when I opened my eyes again I found myself in darkness. (No! Not now!) I screamed mentally. I knew then that I still had to control my powers more.

Little Kanato appeared after a while. His back was to me. I looked to see that he was opening a box that It looked like a present. Inside the box I saw a teddy bear that wore pirates clothing. I was surprised when Kanato stormed out of the room running somewhere. I followed him and we both stopped on a that sight: the purple haired woman, or his mother, was kissing a man. I first thought it was his father but then I neglected that idea after seeing Kanato's face. It was full of sadness and he slowly went back from from where he came from.

I opened my eyes again to see Kanato still sucking my blood. From the pain I was feeling in my head I knew that he didn't stop at all. What surprised me though was why didn't I pass out with all of that?

As if he read my mind, Kanato looked at my puzzlingly. "Why are you still awake...? You should be asleep by now..." he said and I took the chance to push him away from me.

"You had enough! What else do you want from me?!" Seeing Kanato's memory didn't help stop me from being angry at him.

"Mmm...you're right... I don't want to drink blood anymore... I instead want some candy..." he said getting up on his feet.

"What?!" (How could he ask this after all that?!) "I won't do that!" I said getting up as well.

"If you don't... teddy and I will get really mad... and you know what will happen if we get mad..." he said sending shivers down my spine. "I want it after half an hour. I'll be waiting in my room..." he said disappearing instantly.

I leaned back on a tree after feeling dizzy. He was so selfish, sucking my blood like that then telling me to make him candy. Is fact, they were all so selfish and I was having a hard time enduring them. I then wondered how Yui dealt with before...

I got into the kitchen while stomping my feet from anger. I could barely lift up myself so the stomping had no sound as it was so weak. I threw myself then on a chair to take a little rest. Ten minutes later, I got up and started thinking what to do for that creepy boy. I looked around to see that the kitchen stored quite a lot of ingredients in it. From vegetables and fruits to all kinds of meat and cheese. It all looked so delicious but what caught my attention was those big, round-shaped and red apples. They were so appetizing that I couldn't stop myself and took one in my mouth. It tasted better than I expected as it was the most delicious apple I ever ate. (Why don't I make candy apple for him...?) I thought while eating the apple. It wasn't a bad idea so I started to prepare the ingredients to make it. I was about to go get something when a certain thing got my attention. I smiled to myself as I got that crazy idea. An idea that will make Kanato regret messing with me badly.

When I was done, I went to his room and knocked the door. "Kanato, can I go in?"

"Yes." He said and I could tell that he was excited to eat his candy. (Too bad for him...)

"Here... I made-"

"Candy apple!" He said interrupting me and took one from me. He opened his mouth but stopped midway. I gulped. "It smells a little... wired..." he said looking at me suspiciously."

"That's because I made it a little special since I don't want to die today..." I said hoping that it was enough to convince him.

"Oh... okay then..." he said opening his mouth again. I almost giggled seemed no how much he loved sweets. So much that he didn't care what they could do to him.

I took several steps back as he ate the whole thing in one bite. His face was indescribable. I was finally able to let out my laugh after seeing him like that.

"Aaaaaahh! What did you puth inthide?!" He said as he was trying to cool down his burning tongue. "Tell me!"

"How about telling you that it was an onion, what will you do?" I said smirking.

He began crying immediately. "Why?! It'th not fair!" His failed attempts to cool down his mouth made me laugh more.

"Why? I don't remember that you said anything about what should I put inside your food, Kanato. You wanted candy and that's what I gave you, right? Besides, it's your fault for agreeing to eat my candy after all." I said paying him back.

He ignored my mocks and stood up searching for something. "Water..."

"Looking for this, Kanato?" I said showing him the water bottle I had in my hand.

"Give it to me!" He said dashing at me.

I dodged him. "Only if you promise me something..."

"I said GIVE IT TO ME!" He yelled but that wasn't doing him any good.

"Nope!" I dodged him again.

He tried to teleport behind me and take but I already expected that so I dodged again and made my back face the wall. After a lot of tries, he finally said: "What do you want..."

I smiled. "I want a promise that you won't hurt me for what I just did. Okay?"

"No!" He refused right on the spot.

"No water then!" I said turning away.

"Wait!"

I looked at him again. "Hmm?"

"I promise..." he submitted.

"Really? No cheating?"

"Yes... now give that to me!" He said losing his patience.

I nodded and threw the bottle to him. Of course I didn't trust him so I ran out if them room again. My legs were hurting me from all the running but I didn't stop, I didn't want to.

I noticed that he wasn't following me after a while so I looked behind me to check. And of course, it was a bad decision.

"Ouch..." I mumbled feeling the pain in my back that I recently fell on. I bumped into Subaru again.

"Why the hell do you keep bumping into me like that?! Use your eyes dammit!" He yelled like usual. His expression changed when he noticed my shaking legs. "What happened to you there? You look like a frightened chicken."

I got up slowly. "I'll tell you but first, can you sense Kanato anywhere near here?"

"Ha? No, he's no where near hear. Why do you ask?"

I breathed out in relief. "Thank god..."

"You did something again?" Subaru said reading me again.

I smiled. "Yes..." I rubbed the back of my head.

Subaru clicked his tongue. "Not gonna ask about it. So move it and quite wasting my time." He said pushing me to the side.

"Wait!" I couldn't let this chance slip.

"Ha? I said to stop bugging me didn't I?" He said glaring at me.

"Umm... sorry for that but... you saved me a lot recently and I really wanted to thank you for that-"

"Get to the point dammit!" He smashed his fist in the wall.

That made me jump a little. " I was wondering what you meant when you said that I was your bait..." I said lowering my gaze to the ground.

"Ah? It means that you're my food." He said shrugging.

"Huh?

"What else it'll mean, stupid?" He said irritated.

"I-I see... you're a monster too... just like them..." I said turning away from him. "I'm sorry that I disturbed you. Good night!" I said lamely and ran leaving Subaru behind me.

It was really stupid of me to think that him saving me will make him different.

Subaru's POV

(She too... called me a monster...) I thought feeling a sharp pain in my chest. (So she's not different after all...)

A little bit of misunderstandings to make a road for more romance ^^

What did you think of Kanato's surprise? When I saw that on the Internet I laughed out loud imagining it in my fanfic. Nami finding Kanato's dolls room is a bit weird but I thought that it was better than him taking her to it. (Since she already learned not to follow any of them anywhere from what happened with her and Ayato. Besides, who follows a creepy boy into a dark room knowing that he's a vampire and might kill you besides Yui?)
