Chapter 5

"I walked in the hallway back and forth thinking about what I saw earlier. I was fighting back Subaru when I suddenly found myself elsewhere staring at different people. Minutes later I was staring at Subaru again and he told me that I spaced out. It would all make sense if I believed that I was daydreaming. The only problem is that I never saw those two before. But that little boy really resembled him so I wasn't sure anymore...

That left one choice only: what Yui talked about. I still didn't believe it though, being told that I could see people's memories out of the blue. I had so many questions for Yui so her room was my next destination. And because nothing goes my way in that manor, I got stopped by Ayato. More like I was about to bump into him but stopped at the last second. I regained my balance quickly and found that Ayato was looking at me. "Good timing. Come with me for a second." He said and took my hand without asking me.

"Hey! Where are you taking me?" I said trying not to follow his lead.

"If I don't talk, you won't say a word. Now come with me." He said and pulled me harder against my will. He was a lot stronger so I ended up being dragged to a room that I didn't know yet. When we were in there he closed the door after pushing me in. I had a bad feeling about that. And kept dragging me until I hit a wall. He then went to grab something, didn't know what it was. I tried to tip top out of the room but that didn't work of course. He came back smirking as he held something in his right hand. I tried to see what it was but it was too dark for me to see. "Consider this as yours truly's welcome..." He said that and left both my hands up. I noticed what he was doing after it was too late. Seconds later I found myself chained up and standing like a human target in the circus.

"Unchain me! Now!" I said annoyed as I didn't know what he would gain by doing that.

He chuckled. "You're in no position to give orders you know? But I'll forgive you this time, since I'm going to have lots of fun with you tonight..." He said and went again to bring something. Soon he was back with a set of darts in his hands. My eyes widened seeing that one of my worst imaginations came true. "Now... Let's see where I will hit you first..." He said aiming at me.

"Stop it! What will you gain by doing this?" I said as I remembered that I read something about releasing someone from chains. That only problem was that I never tried it before. It was a do or die for me.

"What will I gain? You're my property, and I will get to do anything that I want to you. That's why I won't have to explain myself to you. Got that?" He said and threw the first dart. It almost got in my eyes but I moved my head to avoid it at the last second. Fear began to take control of me as I saw that he was serious. "Hey! Who told you to move?! And it was a perfect shot..." Ayato said annoyed. I began to think of a way to get myself out of the situation. At the same time, a part of me was curious to know why did Ayato think of humans as his properties.

"Ayato, did you do that to Yui too?" I said and his expression changed. For a moment, he looked really thoughtful. But it all vanished as he saw me staring at him.

"I said not to talk when I'm not talking to you!" He said in a louder tone and threw another dart. This time, the dart scratched my leg and blood started to flow out immediately. "It's all that bastard's fault... Bringing a girl every time and telling us not to kill her..." He said as his pained expression returned. And as the last time, it didn't take long for him to gain back his formal expression. "But we always end up killing them anyway. Chichinashi is no different, and she'll drop dead soon. And what's best of it all, I get to enjoy seeing you girls suffering before you die! What more is better than that?" He said and laughed out loudly as he threw the next dart.

I had only one question in mind: Why?

I closed my eyes when I saw the next dart coming. When I opened them again, I found myself in complete darkness. I looked to my hands to see them unchained. (Did he free me? But when-)

My thoughts stopped when I saw things appearing around me. (It's like last time!) I yelled in my head when I saw that once again, I went into another place completely. I thought that at first but when I looked closer, I found that I was inside the garden of the manor. This time, I was looking at four people: a woman with tall purple hair and a black dress, a purple-haired boy, a red-head boy and a brown-haired another. From what I saw, the woman was scolding the red-head as the two other boys stood there motionless. Soon the woman slapped the boy so he fell backwards. I stood and tried to stop her when I suddenly found myself looking at Ayato again. This time, I felt a huge wave of pain going through my right arm. I looked up and saw that I had a dart in my right palm. I silenced a scream of pain as I looked towards Ayato again.

"Serves you right! That's what you get when you ignore me when I'm talking to you." He said Looking proud of himself.

I was burning in anger but I ate it all. "G-good one Ayato... How about we play a game...?" I said trying to distract him from my hands as I began to apply what I read about freeing myself from chains.

"He took the bait easily. "A game?"

"Yes... You throw the next dart... If you miss, I'll get to throw one at you and the opposite works."

He giggled. "You? Throw a dart at me? Ha! As if you can do anything with that hand! But why not? I just have to make sure that I won't miss my target." He said as I was finished of freeing my hands. I felt relived when I saw that the chains were too old and I was able to bend them a little to get my hands out. Of course, I pretended like nothing happened and started to wait for my perfect chance to escape.

Ayato threw the dart. It didn't hit. I smiled seeing that luck was taking my side. "You lost! Now it's my turn!" I said grinning.

As I expected, Ayato didn't play by the rules and suddenly appeared a few centimeters away from my face. "Just who told you that I will do what you said? Stop thin-" he didn't get to finish his sentence as I gave him a strong hit using my head. It hit his chin hardly and I took that chance to throw the chains away and ran to the door.

Because I was angry of what he did to me, I couldn't help it but want to throw a dart at him too. And I did take one. "That was my turn!" I said as I threw the dart with all what I had of power left. I froze when I saw that it landed in the worst place ever!

It didn't take milliseconds for me to run for my life after what I did. (It landed in his butt! HIS BUTT! I'M DEAD!) I screamed in my head and ran to Subaru's room, and I don't know why I did that. Luckily, he was just getting out of his room so I needn't to bang on his door. When he saw me running, he was about to say something but stopped when I hid behind his back. "Wha- what the hell is wrong with you?!" He said almost falling from the impact. I didn't have any words.

"Where is she?!" Ayato got to where I was sooner that I expected and he was looking more pissed than even Subaru.

When Subaru saw that, he looked at me. "What did you do to make him like this?" He asked and I knew that he too, wasn't used to see his brother like that.

"I..." I said slowly not sure what to say since I can't just blurt out that I threw a dart at Ayato's butt.

"There you are! Subaru, give this b***h to me, now!" Ayato said trying to pull me away from Subaru. I just ran in circles avoiding his hands and circling poor Subaru with me. Of course, it didn't take long for Subaru to stop me and look at his brother.

"I asked you what did you do?" Subaru looked at me again, this time his look was a glare.

I gulped a little. "I just threw a dart at him..." I said not wanting to reveal the whole truth.

Subaru pissed eyes turned into bored ones and he almost rolled them. "You're chasing her with this look on your face for a shitty dart?" He certainly found it silly.

"You wish! The dart landed in my ass! MY ASS! Now move so I can teach her what she'll get if she messes with ore-sama." Ayato said and tried to get me again.

Subaru just stood there frozen. We both looked at him as he began to chuckle a bit, then his chuckle turned into loud laughter afterwards. "You seriously threw it there? You're really a crazy b***h!" He said still laughing. I stared at him and I surprisingly found that his laughing face was cute.

"I didn't mean it! It just happened..." I said waving my hands.

"What's with you?! Are you making fun of me?! And why you're standing up for her?" Ayato said becoming angrier.

I blinked. (That's right. Why is Subaru still shielding me?) "Cause she is my bait. Got a problem with that?"

(Bait..?) "And who decided that?" Ayato said crossing his arms.

"Her." Subaru pointed at me.

(Whaaaaaat?!) My jaw dropped when I heard that. I soon knew that it was only an excuse so I went with the flow. "T-that's right! I became his b-bait not so long ago!" I said frustrated.

"She's MY property. And I'll decide who she goes with not her!" Ayato yelled.

"f**k off. You already wrecked all the girls that were before her. That's why I'll get to get her this time." Subaru said and they both glared at each other for a while.

"Heh. Like you would always be beside her. I'll find the time to kill her when you're not looking. And don't blame me after that." Ayato said smirking then he vanished.

I fell on my knees seeing that he was finally gone. "You sure did a good job in there. That bastard needed to be thrown off his high throne every once in a while." He said smiling a little. He stopped smiling when he looked at my right hand. "Did he do this?" He asked and went down then took my hand.

"Yeah..." I said remembering it and feeling the pain again. My whole body got shivers when I saw that Subaru began to lick my hand. "What are you doing?! Get away!" I said backing away.

"I'm healing you so stop moving!" He said and went on.

(Heal...?) I thought and looked at my hand. My eyes widened when I saw that the scar really began to vanish. (They can lick... And heal?!) I was really surprised that I was barely able to say a thank you at the end.

Before Subaru took his face away from my hand. A funny idea came to my mind. It was holding his nose while he was still near. "Hehe..."

"The hell?!" He said backing away and I saw a little hint of blush on his face.

"Sorry... I just felt like doing that..."

He narrowed his eyes. "Looks like Ayato made you crazy already. Now go back to your room for real and stop wandering around." He said his last sentence in a serious tone.

"Umm... I would love to do that but... Ayato would attack me if I was alone so..."

"He won't. I won't let him. Now go clean yourself. You reek of their smell." Subaru said and went away.

I turned to go back to my room. To be honest, I was a little happy that Subaru helped me. Thinking about it made me remember that I didn't ask him about what he meant by me being his "bait", nor I aksed him why did he help me at the first place.

Sorry for the chapter being so short! Also sorry for all of Ayato fans but when I saw the clip on YouTube, I couldn't help it but want to d the whole thing in my way. I also apologize for the few bad words here and there, but they were nessecary.
