Her First and Last

What Rubbish!

Eric Peters finally got into a shuttle and since he was the last to enter, he just sat close to exit. He was just wondering how he would have gotten himself into trouble on the first day of school, he thought to himself, "Ah!, thank God i didn't injure someone's child today, what exactly would have been my story?, what would i have told mum?, on the first day of school, i hit... haba, no, please, i'll be more careful next time, in fact henceforth, i don't want any problems.

...But come to think of it, the lady i met, uhm... Sarah!, he thought aloud, how can i forget her name, she's so beautiful, with her figure, smile, cute face, height and everything, i must admit, i have a crush on... "

"What is it now? , you are not the only one in this vehicle, so please Mr with all due respect, reduce your voice or better still speak to yourself in your mind. We all paid for this shuttle as much as you did, so let us have our comfort and enjoy it to the fullest please, thank you. "

Eric was interrupted by a lady with a fierce look, ready to devour him. He wondered if he was destined to get ladies angry today. Amidst his thought, he was disrupted again by her statement;

"I believe you heard me, or didn't you. And also, you're a human right, i mean one who possesses the ability to hear and speak because you did so not too long, so cut this crab and reply me, i hate when people keep mute on me when they have the abilities to reply me. "

Everyone was just staring at the noisy male and female pair. There was finally silence when the driver announced that it was the last bus stop. The silence was so domineering that they didn't hear the first announcement, so the driver had to repeat it, that was when they started alighting the vehicle. Most were murmuring as they stepped down, others just casted disgusting looks on the pair that almost spoilt or better still spoilt the happy mood of everyone that was present and the pair which were the last set to highlight, they both felt embarrassed but Eric was brave enough to speak up despite the situation and apologized to the lady and everyone dispersed to their different destinations.

Mike was in utter confusion, wondering what kind of being he just met, it wasn't suppose to end that bad besides he meant no harm, he thought;

"Was it actually wrong that i tried to start a conversation that could have led to friendship?, besides nobody can actually survive alone in this school, we all need someone and i'm damn sure she'll need me one day and i'll remind her of today, it seems she's forgotten she's a fresher, what rubbish mtcheeeewww..... "

"Today was just so annoying, happy mood spoilers everywhere, so i can't just be happy in peace, well, it's good i don't have to dwell on it, it's in the past. I have to get to business now " said Sarah.

Just as she was preparing her clothes that she'll wear after taking a shower, her roommate walked in with a very sober mood and just went to sit to on the chair, throwing her back on the bed, Sarah was just staring at her and decided to ask, "Mira, what's the problem, you're not looking bright at all, did anyone hurt you? "...there was no reply, just tears pouring down from Mira's eyes. Sarah was disturbed, at this point, she had already dropped the clothe in her hand and sat opposite Mira but the latter just shrouded, got up and was about leaving when Sarah dragged her back and asked what the problem was but the former just shrugged and forcefully pulled herself off from Sarah's grip and replied, "I'm fine Sarah, i just felt sad and decided to let it out with tears, nothing much, okay? " and left for the bathroom.

Sarah was speechless and after she had regained her consciousness, she said, "was it bad trying to help, even if we aren't yet conversant with each other and just started being roommates?, i really don't see it as something wrong. Well, it's her biz but whatever the case may be, i just hope she comes out of it strong and soon..."

...sound of shower pouring...

"Why's my own case always different?. Just because i was trying to correct someone, i ended up being embarrassed, i just hope i never see that creature again. It's in the past, i gotta move on" said Mira under her breath and not too long the shower was off and she stepped out, headed towards her bunk.

Meanwhile, in no distant time, Sarah was in the bathroom and by the time she was out, Mira was no longer in the room so she just dressed, ate and started reading.

...One Year Later...

"Oh my goodness, you're looking very beautiful, it's very obvious that home looks extremely good on you, look how chubby you've become... " said Mira to Sarah.

The latter replied after much chuckles "... lol, enough of the flattering please, see who's even talking, look how much you've gained more height, you're now taller plus the nice curves i'm seeing. You know you're just very perfect, if i was a guy i would have asked you out right from the first day i saw you, aside your much talking habits and weird mood swings, you're actually fun to be with, permit me to call you a sadness devourer or probably joy giver... "

"... Sarah, you're just too much, how would you just ask me out, aren't you suppose to know my kind of person first, if i'm peaceful or want war always? ".

The roommates who are now very good friends laughed to their satisfaction, besides, it was since the last semester they saw each other which seem to be over a month, so they were happy and after that they became serious and started studying.

Actually, Sarah was the one that influenced Mira and Mira in turn tried influencing Sarah but it seemed as though the latter had planned her life and sports was not enlisted. This particular point was understood by Mira and since their first year, they've been cool.

It's a cool saturday, so cool that you would just feel like sitting in a very airy environment to enjoy the breeze. Well, different people have different reasons for staying outside but generally, it was to enjoy the cool breeze.

Mike decided to go to the gym, he was quite sporty, he went with two of his course mates that were still his friends, but before they could get there they jogged, calling it a warm up. He's quite popular and has won different sport awards, both in and out of the school's competition, he was highly skilled in different sporting games; football, tennis, volleyball and of course basketball because of his height, he was indeed handsome and most ladies including lecturers had their eyes on him and this always gave him an edge over others, per say, his cute face, stature and complexion brought him much favours, it was just remaining a girlfriend for him to have as some would say. Academically, he was top notch, at times people wonder how he was able to combine both but for the few that asked, he would always tell them, he was brought up that way, to be good at both. His dad was highly sporty and good academically, and his mum, was quite sporty but excellent academically, and together they gave birth to a perfect son, Mike.

Everything was going fine until someone shouted and when everyone turned towards their direction, they were laughing. It annoyed some, while some just knew that as friends, they usually played like that.

Mike turned towards their direction and wondered what category of human they were, he was annoyed too because he had lost count of his press ups and had to start again. But he looked at the weird pair because he saw some familiarity and was trying to recall, so he looked again for some kind of confirmation and fortunately, their gazes met, still lost in their stares which everyone noticed, Mira asked Sarah if they knew each other and the latter said they collided with each other when she was in year one. Mira was surprised and asked if they've gotten closer than that and Sarah said "NO, and i don't intend to, besides he's not even bold to speak to me and...well, nothing else, i just didn't like him when i met him".

Mira was further surprised when she said this and took her time to explain who Mike was, at least to the best of her knowledge and still Sarah acted like it's none of her business and walked away, while Mira ran after her.

"Really?, i thought she would have grown past this level, so she couldn't even walk up to me and apologize for her bad first impression, instead she just walked away after staring that long at me, what rubbish...." said Mike and tried continuing his press ups but had lost interest, so he decided to call it a day and finally left.
