Chapter Ten: Insanity and Secrets

1129 Words
Mother has really gone off the deep end. After everything she had done to the pack and to my wife she had the audacity to send that crazed female here. I rolled over onto my bed, groaning with frustration. "None of this makes any sense. Mom has gone absolutely insane and no one knows why. Not even dad." Avarina tapped my shoulders as our pups played on the bed and she read a book. "We're safe here darling. Yes we have to deal with whatever your mother sends our way but our babies are safe and so are we. Aries, I don't want to go back." I couldn't blame her for that but at the same time I couldn't abandon the pack to the whims of my crazed mother. Father had obviously lost control of her. For some reason whenever I thought of my father I grew uneasy. Strange. "I'll go alone." Ava huffed. "If you must. But I don't like it." I didn't either. I didn't like leaving my family behind but I wasn't about to put them in my mothers sights while she's off the rails. We still had no idea why. "I'm not leaving for a while so relax for now." I assured her. The pack could wait. I mean, What harm could possibly happen from my delay? I was about to find out. ONE YEAR LATER I walked through the empty halls of the palace when I arrived. I had wanted to wait until our pups were weened and Avarina could handle them by herself. She had had some complications from the potion and birth and had a hard time remembering somethings. Ember fixed them of course but I was still concerned. The halls were empty and covered in a layer of dust that suggested no had lived here. What on earth was going on. I made my way to the throne room to find a traumatizing sight. My mother was perched on her throne with a chalice full of blood, wearing a revealing corseted burlesque dress with hose and garters, and my father was no where to be seen. "Mother?" She seemed unaware of what was going on around her as she took a sip of blood while staring outside of the bay window we had in the room. "Mother?" I stepped closer to put my self in her line of sight. She finally snapped out of her dazed and faced me. "Ah, my runaway pup finally returns home to visit his mother. How are my grandchildren?" "You should know considering you sent Azrah to "visit". " "Oh Azrah found you? Goodie! I was hoping she would." I stood there with my mouth agape. "That female was beginning to be a thorn in my haunch." Mother wanted me to kill the female? This wasn't making any sense. "Mom. Where's dad?" By this point she was twirling around in circles while sipping on the blood. "Oh he's in the village with the pack. Something about me being a danger to females and young. Where ever would he get that?" My mother had truly lost her s**t. "Mom, you'r dancing in the throne room, half naked, drinking blood of all things from a gilded chalice. Come sit." I grabbed her hand and led her to the throne. She smiled and placed a hand on my cheek. "Your just like your father. My darling pup, I've been this way since you died. My pregnancy with you went wrong." Now I knew she was nuts. "Mother, who am I ?" She blinked in surprise and tilted her head like a pup. "Your Nania. My precious darling girl. Your sister Kia grew up healthy and strong. You should see your nieces." "Mother, Nania died a long time ago, I'm Aries." She broke eye contact only to focus on the window. "When you were born I held you in this window under the full moons light. I prayed to the gods to fix you but my prayers fell on deaf ears." Suddenly she hurled her chalice at the wall. Blood pained the ornate wall paper that covered the rooms walls. She paced frantically like she was trying to solve some great mystery. "I was never able to carry any of your siblings. Kia was the only one of his litter to make it. When you died I was deemed unfit to carry. So your father "fearing for my life" hired surrogate females. I should've put my foot down and had Ember make me fit. UGH!" This was news to me. Father never mentioned this. In fact he probably went to great lengths to hide it. I felt bad for my mother, truly. Her eyes held a sorrow I could scarcely fathom. No wonder she was insane. "The only other baby I was able to carry, I had to give to the vampire king. I wonder how he is?" I have a brother? I swayed on my feet at all the secrets that were coming to light. "My darling Morrice." I knew that fucker smelled funny. My breathing kicked into high gear and mother noticed. "What's the matter Nania?" "Nothing mother. I'm going to go see father." She smiled and nodded. The last thing I heard when I walked out sent chills down my spine. "Morrice is set to marry that pretty vampire princess. They'll be so happy together." I needed to talk to father and if my hunch was correct I needed to return to my mates side immediately. I stormed out of the castle to the pack village in search of my father. I found him bedded down with an unknown female. I stared at them through the window. First off who the hell puts there bed next to a window with no blinds and second, who the hell is she? They were sleeping soundly after rutting according to the smell. But this was different. He was holding her the way I hold Ava, and the way I held her during.... my eyes fell to the bump that his hand cupped and clarity struck like a bolt of lightning. He had gotten this female pregnant. I burst open the door, causing my father to rise and place himself between the unknown intruder and his pregnant mistress. "Aries?" The females sobs echoed in the studio style cottage. She was terrified. "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR GODS DAMED MIND!?" Anger coursed through me and I realized something. All siblings shared the same smell from mother and father. The smell this female carried. To add insult to injury, I just broke into my birth mothers house while she carries the next royal pup. Suddenly there wasn't enough oxygen. I gasped for air as all these revelations came to light. "Start talking. Now."
