Chapter Seven: Complications

I woke in the morning with a horrid headache and an absolutely dry mouth. The events of last night a blur. I guess I was more worn out than I thought. I yawned and padded my way to the dinning hall for breakfast. The room fell into an uncomfortable silence when I entered and I raised an eyebrow. "What?" I asked, slightly annoyed and daring anyone to speak. "Nothing your grace." "Cerina! By blood you scared me!" I shrieked. I had nearly jumped out of my own skin when the female appeared behind me so suddenly. "I'm gonna put a f*****g bell on you I swear." A collective gasp rang out from around the room. Oh yea, I was back home instead of wolf territory. Here we didn't use such course language, whereas there, it was almost natural. "I'm cranky and hormonal. Shove off." I made eye contact with the other nobles and people in the room, daring them to reprimand me. I was in no mood. After running into.....Into. Who did I run into yesterday? Whatever, all I know is that whoever bothered me yesterday had soured my mood period. There was only one person who could make my mood better. Luckily he chose that moment to snake his arms around my waist. "You reek of another persons blood. Go shower and them come give me affection." "As you wish my love." Aries was a gods send. The male was kind and caring while proud and arrogant. I smiled and shook my head. Suddenly a sharp pain ran across my belly, making me gasp and almost fall. "Your grace!" Cerina caught me, pulling me back up to my feet. "Let's get you back to bed." I nodded while turning to go back to my den. Den? I inwardly sighed. I was becoming like more and more like a wolf the more I drank from my mate. I guess that's to be expected. When we arrived, I ran right into Aries's chest. He looked down at me while holding my arms to steady me. "Ah, seems my lovely wife just couldn't wait to see me." I smiled weekly at him. "We need to get her grace back into bed. She had an unnatural pain. We've called for the doctor." I waved at them dismissively and crawled into bed, falling back on to my pile of pillows with a sigh. Thirty minutes later a soft knock sounded. "Enter." Aries stood tall, slightly bowed and ready to fight. The sorceress strolled in and smiled at me. "How are you felling?" "Tired and I'm in a bit of pain." She ran her hand over my belly then placed her ear to my flesh. "Well the heart beat is strong and the baby is healthy, but he is rather large." "That's a bad thing?" Aries looked worried but I was fine. Vampires had big babies just like humans. "Maybe. Either that or your carrying multiples. Plus he's a hybrid. Not only doe he require a lot of nutrients but he requires blood. He's started taking directly from you instead of when you feed. From now on feed six times a day and eat as much as you want." Is there anything else?" I asked. Did our baby really need that much from me? I felt bad thinking that I had denied this child vital nourishment. "Just take it easy and relax. I'm putting you on bed rest and will be giving you a potion that will connect me to both or your heart beats. We need to have all our Is dotted and Ts crossed." With that she left the room. "Well." I said with a huff. "I do want food." Aries smiled at me and laughed. "Of course. Cerina will be here soon with lunch." He crawled in bed next to me and tucked me into the bed as close to his chest as possible. And just like that my bad mood was gone. It sucked that I was being put on bed rest but our pup is all that matters now. I'd do anything for him. He was wasn't even born yet and already he had Aries and I both wrapped around his little paws. Hopefully soon the complications would go away and we'd figure out a proper diet for me to keep this little one adequately nourished.
