Cindy kept looking at Sara sleeping. She pointed her fingers as if she was holding a gun and quietly said, “Bang. If that had worked, I would have done that back at the abandoned lab. Lucky for you, Alex wants you around…”
She sat back and closed her eyes. Cindy knew that Sara wasn’t at fault. Her fear of failing to protect Alex was fueling her anxiety. At one point when Alex was helping her out getting back on her feet, Cindy was considered a dangerous threat to the Neos.
Her cybernetic body was still considered as CTC property. If they were caught, the Neos would be guilty of industrial sabotage. CTC’s influence in both Earth’s and Mars’s governments would easily convince them to brand the Neos party as terrorists. They would have been all hunted down and killed for treason.
