Gabriel “How’s it looking? Is she alright?” I was nervously pacing around Ariadne's bed. In the end, I just rushed with her to the doctor’s house. I didn't wait for Sam to come to us with him. The doctor kept listening to her heart, to her belly. He checked the ultrasound a couple of times. But he was silent. He wasn’t saying anything. He was just standing there, above her, not doing anything. “Let me make a quick call.” That was all he said before disappearing into another room. I could only watch him walking away, while my Luna wasn’t coming back. She was breathing, her body was a normal human temperature, but she wasn’t waking up! “Ariadne, please, wake up.” I held her hand on my forehead while kneeling down next to her bed. I was praying hard. I had no idea what was going on, but it definitely wasn’t a good sign of things. The door cracked while opening. The doctor came back. I quickly got up to talk to him, but he beat me to it. “I called the doctor from the closest pack-” “Marlow?” I asked him, making sure I knew who he was talking about. I was growing impatient every second. There was something going on and I had no idea what to do! “Yes, Marlow. We might have to get the children out by tonight. We’ll set up the surgery, so you don’t need to be worried. We’ll transport her to our hospital as well. Everything is looking fine…” He added, seeing my face. I was counting all the angels around me. “SHE WILL BE FINE, Alpha.” He made sure to stress it out to me again, then he patted my shoulder and left the room saying he had to go and arrange a few more things for Ariadne. “Ariadne, baby…” I fell down on my knees next to her bed again, holding her hand on my heart. The fear I was feeling was indescribable. I made her like this. It’s my fault for causing this to her… My head dropped on the bed next to her. I was regretting making her go through this. Having one child is quite tough for the human body. Having twins is even harder. Let alone while one is a pup! They just grow too fast, they take the nutrients from the body rapidly, as well. It was a miracle she had managed to stay looking healthy. In my worst nightmares, I was imagining her to be only bones and skin. She has managed to stay healthy… Tears were pouring out of my eyes. I wanted to hit my head against the wall so many times, telling myself how much of a fool I was. I couldn’t help her in any way. Something stroked my head gently. I lifted my head to see Ariadne’s feeble smile on her lips. She looked very tired and had a hard time keeping her eyes open. “It will… be… fine. They… They are… strong.” She whispered to me with great difficulties. I swallowed the lump, which formed in my throat from the crying. I’m so useless that she’s even comforting me! SHE IS! I should be the one making her feel better! “You’ll make it. You’re strong as well, Ariadne. You’re my Luna, you can pull through this!” I squeezed her hand in between mine and kissed her fingers. “We’re ready!” The doctor came into the room, announcing things out loud. I didn’t care about him at this moment. I was going to make sure SHE was going to get through this. At this point, I couldn’t care less about the children in her belly, if they were supposed to kill her! “All three of them will make it. Their heartbeats are strong. That’s a good sign.” He put a hand on my shoulder, smiling at Ariadne. Upon hearing that, she smiled again and closed her eyes. She was holding out to just hear that everything was going to be fine. “Gabriel. Don’t stress yourself too much. We are going to transport you now, Ariadne. It might be a bit uncomfortable there, but please bear with it.” He spoke to her as if she could still hear him, even though she was out again. “I’m coming with you!” I hastily stood up. “Fine, fine.” He raised his hand to show me he didn’t care what I did. I kept holding her hand the whole way to the hospital. She had a few in and outs in the car, but she didn’t say anything. She was staring into the ceiling, not even looking at me. I was only hoping she was listening to what I had to say. I swear I poured my whole heart out to her in that car. I didn’t care about what the others were thinking about it. I just wanted her to know how much she meant to me, how much I loved her, and what a fool I had been for putting her through all of this. That night, our children were born. We had already picked names for them before. Ariadne had been scared that the girl would be taken by Dantalion, so we gave her a name, which should guide her in the darkness. Zia was a beautiful girl, who smiled at me the moment I held her in my arms. She was so mesmerizing, tender, frail, that I couldn’t take my eyes nor my hands off her. She was really born to live up to her name, light! Compared to her, Ansel was quite sturdy and way bigger than Zia. He was born fully developed, while Zia was placed in an incubator to stay there for a couple of weeks. “Hey, little fighter… Thank you for protecting your sister for as long as you could. You’re a bigger hero than anyone else.” I whispered to him, while he was kicking in my arms. He was pretty lively for being born a while ago! “She did a great job.” The doctor finally came out as he was there, finishing up. “They all did…” I answered him, staring at Ansel. My heart and soul were melting while seeing these small creatures. If anyone broke even a hair on their heads, I was prepared to wage a war. They were part of my pack. Part of my beloved family. And they were given to me by the most important and strongest person in the whole world. “I don’t want to be bothering you with Ansel, but Ariadne will come out in a while. She’s quite tired and by tomorrow she’ll definitely be pretty sore. The nurses will help with feeding the children. Good job holding out there, dad.” As always, he patted my shoulder and left to do whatever. Ariadne I woke up in a hospital room, feeling like I had a long sleep. I tried moving, but everything was just hurting so bad! I groaned while trying to sit up, but it just wasn’t working out. The machines around me were regularly beeping, but other than that it was quiet. “How was your sleep, princess?” I heard an annoying voice whispering. “Dantalion, go away. I’m not in the mood for you…” I heard myself speaking in a very hoarse voice. “Good job, giving birth to two healthy babies! I came to congratulate you… But I guess you don’t want the flowers, eh?” He came with weird-looking plants, which he called flowers. “You can keep them for decorating your own place.” I refused him, closing my eyes. I didn’t want to see him now. “Just to tell you the news. The girl is just as I thought. She’s beautiful. Solomon was beautiful back then as well. All light was coming to him. She’s just the same!” “Hands off my daughter!” My hand snapped after his collar, pulling him closer to the bed. “Oh?” I saw his devilish smile again close to my face. His ashy breath, which reeked of death. He only enjoyed people's suffering. All the buttons in my were pushed down to make the warning sounds loud! But without saying anything after that he disappeared into thin air. The door opened after a while and Gabriel came in. "You're up?" He rushed towards my bed to check up on me. I nodded. "Thank goddess!" Gabriel gently hugged me and gave me a big kiss. I was only staring at him, seeing his face was quite haggard. But at the same time, he had a lot of energy in him. He didn't look too tired, only stressed out. "They are..." He started a sentence without finishing it. It made me nervous. Was he going to tell me what had happened to our kids? Are they fine? Did nothing happen to them? My eyes kept shifting all over his face, trying to see what was going on. I needed to know. I was their mother! "I should tell Theo to bring them. They are both fine... Zia is beautiful! And Ansel looks like a strong younger brother!" Gabriel hugged me again, burying his head on my chest. "I don't even know what I'm feeling right now. I feel so happy, yet worried and thankful. It feels like my whole world is spinning. I'm even doubting myself if I will be able to do this." He whispered in a husky voice, while still resting his head on my chest. I didn't know what to do, either. I was happy and worried at the same time. "I want to see them," I whispered back to Gabriel. He twitched and got up. "Right! I... I'll go get them!" Now he seemed like a soldier, who had just received a command. "No need to rush so much!" I called after him when he ran out of the room, not even closing the door properly. "So I'm a mother now? They were born well? My babies..." I stroked my belly, which was quite flat already. I was looking forward to seeing their faces. I wanted to see how they actually looked like. If they took after me or their father... I smiled and closed my eyes. I was feeling sore and tired. I wanted to rest more, but the feelings of curiosity and that something was missing in my body made me restless. I needed to see my babies!
