“Shh, calm down. Did something happen while I was gone?” His calming voice made me feel less stressed and a bit more at ease. The shaky feeling I had just a while ago was slowly dissipating. I took a deep breath to calm myself down. His warm hand on my cheek felt so comforting together with him softly stroking my hair. I closed my eyes for a moment.
“Ugh.” I quickly opened my eyes again. Dan’s face wasn’t looking too good, in fact, it looked like he was in a lot of pain.
