He dropped me off there later, having handed me over to a concierge after fixing up check-in and everything. I didn’t follow everything that was going on, because I was trying to get it in my head that I was at the Ritz. Various nightmare scenarios ran through my mind, such as being asked to settle the bill the next morning. I would just have to do a runner if that happened.
He had arranged to meet me for breakfast so at least I would see him again.
I had never stayed at super expensive hotels before, so I didn’t have a lot to compare the Ritz to. It was all very furnished and plush and hushed inside, but then it was night time. There were people to help you at every moment, even someone in the lift, and someone to escort you to your room.
