“Thank you for telling me,” Sophie said, hoping he could hear the sincerity in her voice. “It couldn’t have been easy for you to talk about, and I appreciate it.”
“Thank you for listening,” he replied. “You know, you remind me of her in a lot of ways. I don’t know if it’s your hair or your smile, but there’s something there. Of course, you are definitely a unique spirit as well, Sophie. You’re so good at what you do, and I admire how you radiate your love of the Lord in all that you do. That’s really special.”
Sophie could feel a blush coming on again. “That’s nice of you to say,” she replied, averting her eyes from his. It might have been the nicest compliment anyone had ever paid her. If there was one thing she wanted people to notice about her, it was her profound faith in God.
