THE KILL JOB EPISODE TWENTY

Angie went into the bedroom and found kepha still on his phone, she freshened up then got in the bed and sat up watching him. When kepha noticed her attention was on him, he put the phone away and covered himself.

Angie: are we going to live like this?

Kepha: like what?

Angie: we have always talked and settled problems kepha, lately I don't know what is bothering you and I don't know how to get you to talk.

Kepha: are you hiding anything from me?

Angie: anything like what?

Kepha: I don't know you tell me.

Angie: No, am not hiding anything from you and I don't even know why you would think that.

Kepha turned and looked at her.

Kepha: the other day I walked in on you staring at your tummy and wondering if you were pregnant. Are you pregnant?

Angie: what, No am not pregnant.

Kepha: okay.

Angie: is that what has been bothering you?

Kepha: not really bothering but it's okay if you are not.

Angie: tomorrow we are having dinner at Caroline's. I hope you can free up your evening for that.

Kepha: okay. I could make sometime for that dinner.

The following morning I woke up in some house and looking around, there was nothing familiar about it. I sat in bed with a horrible bang in my head so i fell back in bed on my back and rested before the door flew open and a lady walked in with some tray in her hand. I tried to sit up but I couldn't. I didn't even understand what was going on with me because I drunk before, but I never felt this wasted.

Her: you are awake. My name is Jenn

I stared at her but didn't say a word. She put the tray in the table then took some pills and put them in my hand and pulled me up handing me a glass of water. I swallowed the pills then gave her back the glass.

Jenn: that should make you feel better. Am preparing some bone marrow soup. I don't know about alcohol but I heard soup works magic.

Now this lady was charming. She was beautiful with a heartwarming smile but I just didn't feeling like talking. I was going through something I couldn't explain especially not to a stranger..

She served me some fresh mango juice and sat there watching me drink it up. She got up from the bed walked out and came back with my phone in her hand.

Jenn: I thought of calling someone to let them know you are here but i found your phone off, I charged it already.

I took the phone from her and switched it on and immediately, texts started coming in.

Jenn: so where are you from?

Me: that's not really important but thanks for your hospitality. I've got to go.

I got up to leave but she held my arm and sat me back.

Me: what are you doing.

Jenn: you need to rest. Let the medicine work atleast before you leave.

I listened to her and sat though all I could think about was my son and how worried he could have been about me. What if he thinks am dead, did he even eat, what if he decided to go looking and Tom captured him again

Jenn: yesterday you were so drunk and I found you lying on the road, why would you do that to yourself, do you want to die?

Me: i really don't feel like talking about it but thanks for saving my life. I really cannot stay here. I have things to take care of..

I got up and slowly walked out of the room and when I got to the living room, I picked my jacket and gun. I checked if the gun still had some bullet's and yes it had a few rounds. The tv was on and the breakfast show was going on and I could see some news on a gang that had been found murdered in the house among them being a lady.

I took a keen interest in the news trying to figure out what gang that was when i heard Jenn ask if i had anything to do with what was going on in the news.

I looked at her and shook my head still focused in the Television..

Me: I don't know what that is. Last night I was busy doing other things.

Jenn: but why do you have a gun?

Me: listen Jenn, my life is a little too complicated right now, am not a good person and trust me, the less you know about me the better. I have a gun because I kill people but that was not me.

Jenn: okay. The soup is ready, maybe you can have some before you leave.

She insisted and I sat on the couch waiting for her to bring her soup.

Kepha went to check on Brandon after Angie has prepared breakfast. Brandon was all alone and was beginning to get worried because he had not heard from his dad.

Kepha asked him to go with him to the main house and have some breakfast before they could go and buy him a few clothes since he did not carry any clothes after he left ndege's place.

Angie had not seen the boy so she was definitely surprised though she knew who he was. She talked to him nicely and served him breakfast..

Brandon: is my dad coming back today?

Kepha: hopefully he will.

Brandon: do you think he left because he was mad at me?

Kepha: no, your father is a good man. He just went to work and he will be here. Please have your breakfast as i try to reach him okay?

He nodded and kepha went up to the bedroom and dialed Henry's number but it went unanswered. Angie walked in and found him seating on the bed going through the phone.

Angie: what happened to Henry?

Kepha: i don't know.

Angie: how can you not know, he is your friend.

Kepha: well, I don't know where he is.

He kept tying to reach him again but his phone went unanswered again...

Kepha knew it was only a matter of time before Henry went for him after everything he had done so he called his three guys for a meeting and asked them to search for his son for he was to fly out of the country. Tom had no family as every single one of them had died, be it the fake wife and son, his two brothers, mother or father. Everyone was just gone.

Tom: search every corner but most especially narrow into this estate...

He said showing them on a map.

Tom: find my son and bring him back alive. Kill whoever gets in your way.

With those instructions they left as Tom went to take care of the travel documents.

Melvin had learned about Jeffrey's death and so he went storming into the hideout with his gun at hand.

Dufla and slim saw him and immediately stopped playing poker with Dufla getting up having shown a sign of surrender.

Melvin: how could you guys kill him?

Dufla: put that gun down bro, what are you taking about?

Melvin: don't pretend like you don't know what am talking about yet the news is allover. I told you he was my buddy and we were cool.

Slim: we didn't do it dude... Your cop friend was corrupt and maybe he got his wires crossed out there. Maybe be messed with the wrong person.

Dufla: put the damn gun down Melvin.

He did put the gun down then walked out on them.

I had my soup and then Jenn did a few chores in the house and when I was done, I rested a few minutes and when it was time to leave, i realized I couldn't get up. My eyes felt heavy with sleep and am not sure of what had happened within that short time but I must have fallen asleep on the sofa where I was seated.

Kepha and Brandon went for shopping and he bought him a few clothes and shoes, took him out for lunch then later went bowling in one of the malls. Kepha had always treated Henry's children as his own and him not having his own bothered him but he had to live with the fact that he couldn't have children of his own.

Angie despite telling Jonathan that she would not go see him because she was having dinner at Caroline's, she did manage to visit him. She did not report to work as she was supposed to and when she got to Jonathan's home it was around 4:00pm and she found him seated in the living room working in his laptop.

Jonathan: see who is here, hello love?

He said putting the laptop away.

Angie: hey

She said hugging him and sealing the hug with a kiss that lasted about five minutes or so..She sat on his laps and brushed his clean shaved head with her hands staring deep in his eyes.

Jonathan: I thought you wouldn't come.

Angie: am stressed out and you are the the only person that makes me calm.

Jonathan: what's stressing my baby?

Angie: don't get used to calling my that, it might get you in trouble.

Jonathan: let me worry about that.

He said pulling her into another kiss and a few minutes later she had her legs spread across his hips as they kissed, caressed and he carried her to the couch and lay her on it, and they both undressed and ended up making love yet again.

Joe had been following Angie around as he had tapped into her phone and followed through all these conversations with Jonathan. That day he was out the window snapping photos of Angie and Jonathan making love and before any of them could notice he was there, he left.

LATER THAT EVENING.

Kepha and Brandon got home at around 6:00pm. An hour after Angie had gotten home. Angie had taken a shower and prepared dinner for Brandon and his father just incase he came back. She was ready for dinner at Caroline's and she was only waiting for kepha to freshen up as she did a bit of catching up with Brandon.

Angie: so where did you go today?

Brandon: to the mall. Uncle keph got me some new clothes and shoes and we also went bowling. He is awesome.

Angie: am glad you did have fun. Are you hungry?

Brandon: not really.

Angie: but when you get hungry you can just searved and east okay?

Brandon nodded then smiled.

Angie: did I say something funny?

She smiled back.

Brandon: no but you sound like my sister. She was so good. I miss her.

Angie: well you see, if your sister was good to you, am sure she is watching over you from heaven.

Brandon: my teacher told us there is heaven where God is and there is hell where Satan is.

Angie: and what else did he tell you about heaven and hell?

Brandon: he told me good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell.

Angie: and I bet your sister went to heaven because she was a good person right?

Brandon: yes. She was.

Just then kepha came down all dressed and interrupted their conversation.

Kepha: am done.

Angie: okay, boy. Make sure you eat okay, and you don't have to sleep there alone if your dad doesn't come back. You can use that room over there okay?

Brandon: okay. Thank you aunty Angie.

Angie: you are most welcome..

Angie and kepha left for the dinner and for the first time in a long time Angie spotted a gun on kepha's waist as he was driving

Angie: what are you doing with a gun?

Kepha: it's for protection.

Angie: against what?

Kepha: don't even start Angie, am really not in the mood for an argument.

Angie: am not arguing kepha am only asking a question.

Kepha: yeah, these days am kepha to you.

Angie: don't turn this into something it's not. You told me you had changed from that life kepha, I believed you.

Kepha: you wouldn't understand even if I had to explain so let's just drop it.

Angie: so is that how it's going to be, I see an issue and we don't talk about it just because you are not in the mood?

Kepha was silent as he didn't want that argument to go further..

I woke up at around 7:30am and when I did I found Jenn seated there flipping through a magazine and the tv was also on.

I woke up in a hurry and checked my gun and and my phone and realized I had around five missed calls from kepha. Had something happened to my son or his wife?

Tom had promised to get back at Betty if he didn't have Brandon.

Me: what did you do to me?

Jenn: I only wanted you to rest.

Me: I don't know who the hell you are or what you want but you don't make decisions for me.

Jenn: am sorry. I couldn't let you walk out of here in that same condition I found you in. Instead of being rude you night as well just say thank you.

Me: what did you put in that soup you were insisting I take?

She was quiet so I felt like i was wasting my time with her. I put on my shoes and walked out of her house without a word.

On my way to find a cab, I called kepha to find out if everything was okay since we had not spoken after he almost blew my head off.

Kepha: it's about time. Where the hell are you?

Me: that's not important, I got your missed calls.

Kepha: your kid was worried sick about you. I had promised him I'd make sure you get home safe.

Me: it's funny you were making such promises when you almost blew my head off.

Kepha: that was a moment of weakness. I'm sorry man but you know I wouldn't do it. You are my partner.

Me: where are you?

Kepha: going off a few blocks to Angie's friend Caroline for dinner.

Me: okay.

I hanged up and because I didn't want to ask kepha for the address to Caroline's place, I called Joe to trace their location and after explaining to him that kepha's life might be in danger. Kepha had used my phone one time to call Joe asking about something they were working on, I have no idea.

Joe responded immediately giving me their location and thereafter I asked the cab driver to stop the car. He asked if there was a problem and I didn't respond but he did pull over by the side of the road and when he turned to check if everything was okay at the back where I was seated, i snapped his neck then got out of the back seat, opened the front door, pulled him out, then got in and drove off heading to the location I had been given.

Kepha and Angie got to Caroline's house and they were received warmly as Caroline served them a glass of wine each as she made them feel comfortable in the living room.

Caroline: my boyfriend will come down soon.

She said leaving them shortly as she got to the kitchen and carried the food to the table which Angie offered to assist with since she could not drink wine and she needed excuse for it so she put her glass of wine on the table and joined Caroline in the kitchen. They talked and laughed as kepha watched TV waiting for them.

Melvin had seen Angie and kepha walk in through his bedroom window and texted the G5 crew to be on standby just incase she recognized him and there was a problem and they agreed to show up.

When he finished in the bedroom, he came down the stairs and found everyone seated at the table.. kepha and Angie both raised their faces and looked at him as caroline introduced him to them.

When Angie saw him, she almost choked on her food and hit the glass of wine beside her sending it crashing on the floor. Kepha turned and looked at her.

Kepha: baby are you okay.

They all looked at her as she coughed while kepha rubbed her back..

She got up abruptly, picked up her pursed and excused herself.

Caroline: what just happened here?

Caroline asked looking at both her husband and kepha.

Kepha: excuse me please. I'm sorry about that.

Kepha rushed out after Caroline who was waiting outside near the car..

Melvin( to his team): are you here already?

G5: yes. Seen a guy and a lady coming out of your house.

Melvin: kill them now!

I was already parked outside Caroline's house and had taken note of the strange car that had been parked there a few minutes after I arrive. A few minutes after kepha and angie got out i saw one of the guys get out of the car with a gun so I quickly got out and shot at him shouting and asking kepha to watch out. Kepha pushed Angie inside the car as he shot at the other guy while I shot the guy who had come from inside the house shooting at the car and my guess was that he wanted to get rid of Angie. Caroline heard gun shots and when she came rushing out screaming I shot at the security light making the place dark and immediately after that both kepha and I got in and we drove off.

While in the car, kepha got a call from Joe asking if everything was okay and he also asked him to go see him the following day for an update of their project.

We got to kephas place at around 9:00pm and since none of them had dinner at Caroline's, Angie asked me to go in since she had prepared enough food for everyone before they had left.

Brandon: Angie called as she got inside wanting to surprise him with the fact that i was back but he did not respond.

I looked around and watched Angie go to the guest bedroom still calling on him but there was no response.

Angie: Brandon is not here.

Me: what?

Angie: please check the SQ.

I rushed to the SQ but Brandon was not there.

Me: Damnit, he is gone

Kepha: what do you mean gone, we left him here.

We looked around, kepha and I even went out and searched around the hood but he was no where to be seen.

Shortly after I get an anonimus text telling me Tom and Brandon were on their way to the airport and if I wanted to save my son, I should head there immediately.

I showed the text to kepha and we hurried made our way back to the house, hopped in the car and I drove off warning kepha to buckle up.

We didn't go to Tom's place but took the route to the airport having been texted the number plate of Tom's black SUV. We drove for a while then pulled over by the side of the road and waited for 15 minutes and kepha told me about Joe's call.

Kepha: he said he's got something on Angie. Angie's behavior when she saw Caroline's husband was very strange. Do you think he is the one she is cheating on me with?

Me: most probably. Why else would she have such a reaction?

Kepha: i will find out tomorrow. What happened to you?

Me: the other day when we were being shot at, I got Tom's call. He threatened to kill Betty if I didn't take Brandon to him that night and with the way things were messed up, I could not give into his demands. He killed Betty and left her body there for me to burry.

Kepha: what, Betty is dead?

Me: yes. That's the car..

I said pointing at Tom's car then starting ours immediately.

I sped after Tom's car because my aim was to reach it before it could get to the airport but when they noticed we were following them, they started shooting at us.. kepha got his hand out and shot at them severally but he couldn't get a good shot at ndege's head. One of ndege's guys sprayed bullets at us and we lost control trying to cover our heads from the bullets and our car ended up hitting a pole that was standing beside the road and they disappeared completely as I tried shooting at them in vain. I went back to the car since kepha had not come out and when I looked at him he was holding to his stomach as a bullet had hit him..... Now it was a confusing moment for me as I was stuck in between rushing kepha to the hospital to save his life or going after my son before the plane took off.....
