Madelyn's POV

"Are you no longer going to cook Maddie?" "No and why are you calling me Maddie?" "Just to shorten your name, is there a problem with it?" "Yes Xenon my name is Madelyn." "Sorry." I just rolled my eyes while burying my face deeper into Kelpie's fluffy coat. "Are you ok?" She said whispering I shook my head no. She jumped off the couch and motioned her with her head fir me to follow so I did. We went outside and walked all the way out of the Reaper pack. "Kelpie.....D-did you see what he did?" "No? Why?" "He kissed me!" "So?" "First of all I have no interest in him or Kai, and secondly that was overstepping boundaries!" "Well I understand that and you shouldn't be dating around anyway remember?" "Remember what?" "Once you get your wolf they already have an assigned mate by t he moon goddess?" "Oh yes I remember." "So don't get your hopes up on anyone." I looked down at the ground, Kelpie turned around and trotted to me whole I started crying. She licked away my tears "What's wrong?" " I don't want a mate, I've seen what love can do to you and I don't want it!" "Oh Madelyn, its ok!" "It's not I've seen people die for love, Kill for love, be heartbroken over love, go crazy over this one stupid thing!" Kelpie didn't reply instead just sat down with my against a nearby tree, placing her head in my lap while I cried and pet her. After a while I spoke up in a tiny voice "I've been a victim of love and my brother was as well." She again didn't reply she just listened and waited for me to speak up again. "He drown himself after his wife left him for someone else, she completely broke him. She took their kids and basically his heart and soul too. After that he felt he couldn't live anymore, he didn't come out of his house of weeks and didn't speak to anyone. Until one day I was gong to the lake with a friend when we went swimming and I saw his body...." Tears filled my eyes to the brim again as I kept speaking "His body was at the body of the lake with bricks tied to his feet, Love made him a fool and it broke him....." 

Kelpie's POV

I listened to her story and made me feel so bad for her, But she just spaced off into the distance while talking again "As for me I had this friend Selene, She was beautiful, kind and generous but she was too kind and generous for this world and some asshole took advantage of her... She was r***d and after that was never herself until one day she couldn't take it she had so much PTSD from it so she also committed, I loved her so much and seeing her leave this world was too much." "But now I like to think she's happy and can finally walk the world with no cares or worries" "Oh Madelyn I had no Idea you've gone through so much I'm so sorry."  She just gave me a weak smile while staring to the sky.

Dakota's POV

I woke up and went downstairs I didn't see Madelyn when I entered the living room which I thought was a bit weird but I looked all around downstairs and still couldn't find her so I went for a walk trying to see if she was outside and I found her Kelpie by a tree Madelyn sat staring at the sky with tears streaming down her face. Oh how I wanted to run to her and just hug her but I didn't want to startle her or upset her anymore because after the whole trying to flirt with her and everything else she had been a bit more distant and I didn't want to father push her away. So I walked up to them and just sat down next to them. "Madelyn can you tell me why your crying?" "Its nothing and I'm not crying." I sat silent it was apparent she didn't want to talk to me so I just continued my walk and left them alone. I didn't want to pry or push her limits.

Madelyn's POV

After me and Kelpie sat outside for a while and talked I got up and started heading far away, I want to get as far away from the Reaper pack as possible I want to go do other things while preparing for the trial. The trial was coming up sooner than expected with only a month left to prepare I wasn't going to spend it with people I dislike and distrust so I set out. Kelpie followed behind "Madelyn where are we going?" "We are going back out to live for ourselves the trials are coming soon and if we don't want to spend the rest of days here we better get going. And experiencing more things." Kelpie trotted up next to me and asked "Got any place in mind?" "The Oracle's Forest." "Madelyn if we don't die there I'll be surprised." "If we don't die there it'll be all the better for the trial experience." "I guess that's one way to think." "Yes, yes it is and after that we'll go deeper into hopefully, the ever shadows."
