The moment the words left Kael's mouth, the room fell silent. "You can leave." Caroline stared at him for a moment, part of her had expected him to change his mind and argue, or perhaps hesitate or tell her no. Instead, he simply stood there, then slowly, her stepped away from her until there was a reasonable distance between them again. He turned his back to her, completely.
