At the office, they headed into the parking garage. Her space was on the floor below his, and he walked her there. An awkward silence had fallen between them, the kind of silence that seemed too full, too loaded. She turned to face him with a small, hesitant smile, unsure what to say or how to act after the night they had just shared over dinner. “Thank you for dinner,” Sienna said softly. “I know that sounds terribly inane.” The sodium vapor lights above glowed faintly, casting golden halos around her face, bringing out the delicate highlights in her hair.
