CHAPTER 2: The Island

Boracay, Philippines LEONARDO     Going to Boracay is the most tiring and the longest trip I've ever had. Since there's no direct flight from Humboldt, Jorge booked me a flight at Japan Airlines with two stops. So, I need to take a plane from California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (ACV) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). And then from LAX to Narita International Airport (NRT). I have to go through these routes to reach the Philippines. Since I am going to an Island, I took another flight, a domestic flight from Manila Airport (MNL) to Caticlan Airport (MPH). As soon as I got out of the plane, my body felt warm from the tropical heat, which gave my skin a nice reddish tint. After getting my luggage from the small carousel of the small airport, a man appears beside me.     "Welcome to the Philippines, Mr. Cabello. My name is Miguel. Alpha Jorge sent me to assist you with all your needs." He warmly welcomed me.     "Nice to meet you, Miguel, and you can call me Leo. There's no need to be so formal." I said with a friendly smile. But Miguel just responded with a smile. Obviously, Jorge instructed him to be always respectful in front of an Alpha.     "Right this way, Mr. Leo." He gave me a signal to follow him and led me to a white van.     We took a short trip by land to a small port where a fancy speedboat is waiting for us.     "How long will it take to reach the island?" I asked Miguel. I am quite exhausted from the long trip, and I couldn't wait to reach Jorge's resort and flop on the bed.     "It will take only 15 minutes to reach Black Pearl's resort. Would you like some champagne, Mr. Leo?" Miguel said while raising a bottle of champagne.     "Sure. That will help me to relax a bit." I smiled.     The 15-minute boat ride is the best boat ride I've ever had. I couldn't believe that the sea in the Philippines is this beautiful. The water is so calm, which made it look like an enormous pool. And the clarity of the water? Dang, it's so clear in a way that it projects the mirror image of the blue sky.     As we approached the island of Boracay, I saw a man standing by the shore waving at us. My guess is Jorge, which I am definitely right.     "Welcome to Black Pearl Resort, Leo!" He cheerfully said while giving me a brotherly hug.     "f**k, J! You never told me how beautiful your resort is!" I said in awe after we pulled from each other. From Jorge's resort, I can see a long stretch of white powdery sand beach. It's so f*****g beautiful, and Jorge is right. I will thank him forever for inviting me here. I made a mental note that I will come back to this island with my brothers. All the exhaustion from traveling seems to evaporate as soon as I laid my eyes on the island.     "I never told you because I want you to see it by yourself." He grinned.     "And you did the right thing by not telling me. This is awesome, J!" I complimented.     "I'm glad you like it. Come on! I will take you to your room. I know you are exhausted from the long trip. But I think it's worth it. Am I right?" He teased.     "I hate to admit, but yes, you are right," I admitted in a playful tone, which made J chuckled. I certainly agree that the almost one and a half-day of traveling to get here is worth it.  ________     After our little conversation on the beach, he immediately takes me to my room. The view in my room is superb! I have a 180 degrees view of the perfect blue sea, and I will never get tired of staring at it. I should convince my parents to buy a resort just like this one or maybe better. For sure there are more islands in this country which is far better than this.     The sea is very tempting, and I would really love to go for a swim, but as soon as I lay down on the bed, I couldn't think of anything else but sleep. J offered to get me room service to get me something to eat, but I told him that I am not hungry. My body is craving sleep, and nothing can satisfy this craving but this incredibly relaxing bed. I did not even bother to take a quick shower. I just removed my clothes, leaving only my boxers on, then drifted off as soon as my back pressed against the comfort of the mattress. _______     A loud knock awakened me then, Jorge barged into my room. I noticed that the room is dark, and then I realized that it's already nighttime.      "f**k! What time is it?!" I asked Jorge as I sat bolt upright.     "It's already 9 PM. Sorry, I have to barge in, but you left me with no choice. I thought you were dead." He teased and switched on the light in my room, and then he took a seat on the bottom edge of the bed.     "No one and nothing can kill me!" I said boisterously.     "Are you sure? What about Maximiliano Cabello?" He said while looking at me with narrowed eyes.      "f**k you, man!" I cursed playfully, which made Jorge burst out laughing. J really knows how mentioning my dad's name will affect me. He is the only person I am afraid of. Well, not just me but all of us. Dad is dad, but no one can question how much we love and respect him. He and mom.       "I came here to fetch you. Let's grab a quick dinner, then let's hit the bar. Lots of hot she-wolves will be there, so I guess I will not disappoint you, and you can live up to your reputation when it comes to women. You know what I mean?" He grinned and gave me a playful wink.     "You really prepared for my visit, huh?" I smirked.     "Of course! This is the first time you did not decline my invitation, so I want everything to be perfect and make sure that you will enjoy every second of your stay here. But honestly speaking, bro, your visit means a lot to me. When pops asked me to come back here to the Philippines after training with you guys, I felt that a part of me had been taken away because you, Mat, and Raf are the brothers I've never had. I really had a hard time adjusting here, and I almost flew back to Humboldt during my first week of stay in this country." He said with a wry smile.     "Yeah! You called me that time, and you were crying, and you even asked me to lie to your dad and tell him that our training was not yet done." I said happily, remembering what a cry baby he was. I also felt a pang of guilt in my stomach when he mentioned the fact of declining his invitations so many times. I really owe him this visit.      "f**k! You don't have to remind me of that!" He hissed, and we both burst out laughing.     "Enough with the bullshit! Move your ass, and let's go and party!" He barked as he stood up.      "I'll come back here in 30?" He asked.     "See you in 30," I replied, then J left my room.     I have a feeling that tonight will be the best night of my life!
