I sat there, frozen in fear as Brax made his way to the door. My heart was pounding in my chest, and I could feel the sweat beading on my forehead. The thought of Steve being on the other side of that door sent shivers down my spine. I gripped the sides of the chair I was sitting on, trying to steady myself. I held my breath, not daring to make a sound as Brax reached for the doorknob. Every muscle in my body tensed, ready to flee at a moment's notice. As Brax slowly turned the knob and pulled open the door, my eyes squeezed shut tightly. I couldn't bring myself to look, unable to face whatever horror awaited me on the other side.
