Lana's POV My heart lurched. I swallowed, my pulse hammering against my throat, but his words left no room for protest. And still, I didn’t look away. “Where are we going to your house?” I asked finally, breaking the spell before it drowned me. “The Cross Estate, right?” He frowned immediately, his jaw tightening. “That’s my family’s house, not mine. Don’t act dumb.” He turned the key, and the car surged forward, headlights slicing through the night. I pressed my lips together, then let out a bitter laugh. “No. Take me to a bar instead.” “No,” he said flatly, his eyes fixed on the road. My pulse spiked. “I’m not asking,” I bit out. “Either you take me, or I jump out of this car.” My hand gripped the door handle for emphasis. The corner of his mouth twitched, that maddening smile
