Elemental Magic

***Sasha pov*** Another dark jet black wolf sprung from nowhere, colliding with Charlie mid air as they both forcefully crashed into the lake. Both were submerged under the water. I held me breath waiting for Charlie to surface, when there seemed to be a hesitation I began to wade into the lake. Suddenly Emmett burst to the surface in human form cradling Charlie to his chest. I continued to wade out toward them. "She's burning up." He yelled. "Keep her in the cold water" I gasped reaching them both. "Danny go get the pack Doctor now." He roared as Danny took off in the direct of the pack hospital. "What the hell happened?" Emmett turned to me. "We were hanging out and just laying on the lakes edge and then they showed up." I responded watching Charlie's face contort in discomfort. "They?" he looked around panicked. "Shadow people." I replied. "Lost souls that live in the shadows or walk the ghost roads." "Why...." Emmett began but was cut off by a groan from Charlie, his attention switched to Charlie. "Shhhh its okay baby." He muttered cradling her closer. "It's ok" he comforted her cradling her close to his chest. "Will she be okay?" I asked tears stinging my eyes. "I couldn't help us. My magic isn't strong" I added. "I was trying then suddenly Charlie was using magic fighting them off with fire." "Charlie channelled elemental magic?" Emmett asked surprise crossing his face. "Yes, but she couldn't control it fully. It grew too fast." I cried. "This is all my fault." tears ran down my cheeks. "This is no ones fault Sasha." He began before we heard Danny, Alpha Liam, Alpha Williams and the Dr crash through the forest tree line and straight into the water. Emmett explained the situation as the pack Doctor busied himself checking her over. "Her pulse is weak but steady." He added. "Her body temperature is high" he added. "Keep her in the cold water Emmett its our best chance of cooling her fast" he busied himself taking her vital signs. "My pups?" Emmett asked. "We won't know Emmett until she's cool enough to transport to the pack clinic for a scan." Dr Teller responded. "Emmett what the hell happened?" Alpha Williams asked. "I don't know she was with Sasha." He replied. Everyone's gaze fell on me at once. "We were sitting on the bank talking and then we fell asleep together. The cold woke me and I could sense them." I paused to fight back the sob that threatened to leave my throat. "Sensed who?" Alpha Williams asked. "The shadow people." I replied. "Shadow people?" "The lost dead they live in the shadows and on the ghost roads." I responded. "They can attack but its not common, I don't know what happened." I couldn't fight the tears anymore and began to cry. Danny moved beside me and placed a comforting arm around me. "Emmett let's move her to the pack hospital now her temperature is stable" Dr Teller interjected "you can carry on this conversation when she's comfortable." He added, encouraging the group to move toward the shore. Soon I was standing in the pack hospital waiting area my clothing soaked through staring at the double doors that separated me from my best friend. "Here you must be cold" a voice said as I was suddenly enveloped in a large woolen blanket. Danny turned me to face him wrapping the blanket tightly around me. I looked up at the most handsome man I have ever seen instantly comforted by him. My love and secret desire for him had been instant and unwavering over the years. But I could never tell Danny it was better he was my friend then to lose him altogether. "She'll be okay" he added. "Danny this is all my fault." I sighed "How is it?" He asked softly reaching up and brushing my wet hair from my cheek. "Because if I wasn't the worest witch in the world Charlie wouldn't have had to use magic to help us. I should of been able to." he pulled me close and cut off my sentence "Hang on, elemental magic is not your run of the mill magic Sasha. Many a powerful witch does not control the elements." Danny replied. "Even if you were a savy spell caster there is no guarantee you could control fire, never mind conjure it." He added. "That's just it Danny I am 100 per cent useless as a witch." I retorted. "Not true my child" a voice cut in and I turned to face the witch I had encountered at the pack house earlier. "How long have you been seeing shadow people?" She asked. "Excuse me?" I squeeked. "Do not be coy, I hear you saw Shadow people and you seem to have Knowledge of them. Thus meaning this is not your first encounter." She added. "Most witches know about them." I shot back fighting down an uneasy feeling. "Of course, we know of them." She smiled "and true we often sense them but we do not see them." She let the sentence hang in the air as realisation passed over me. "What?" I asked shock engulfing me. "Only a witch with specific gifts or connections can see shadow people and ghost road walkers." She responded. "How long have you been seeing them?" She asked again. "My whole life." I swallowed. "Ahh then I have no doubt you are connected to Baron Samedi my child." She smirked looking me up and down "If not of his blood line." She added looking me up and down. "Who?" I swallowed. "Who indeed?" She replied. "Rest up now dear Sasha its been a tough night." She added turning to leave. "I knew when we met your gift would reveal itself. However if I am right your gift is beyond anything I or the covens imagined." And just like that she was gone. "What the hell is going on?" Danny asked "Wish I knew." I sighed tiredly *** Madame Lux Pov** I sat in my dark rooms secluded in the tombs of the graveyard of New Orleans surrounded by the bones and power of my ancestors. As the high priestess of the coven I often drew magic from the ancestors. Humming to myself I dropped a few drops of my blood into the mix in front of me stirring its contents and continuing to hum the summoning vodoo spell. Sitting down at the small table I sipped on the rum as a black shadow at the back of the room changed and a dark toned man with a top hat and three piece dark velvet suit emeraged. "Madame Lux" his smooth voice called me name "and to what do I owe this wonderful reunion?" He asked. Looking up from my glass of rum I signalled for him to sit as I poured him a glass. He moved towards the chair and sat down. "Ah my favourite how kind" he admired the liquid before taking a sip of the expensive rum I had poured liberally for him. "Ah well a lover never forgets" I mused back. "Even if she was scorned." I added raising an eyebrow almost daring him. "You of all people should know I have certain weaknesses, rum" he smiled raising a glass "fine tobacco" he listed placing a cigar to his lips " and young beautiful mortal women" he added holding my gaze in a seductive manner. "Yeah yeah a true fine gentleman." I scoffed. "Considering my youth is a thing of the past and a side effect of lost youth is common sense I fear there is nothing between us now but two old friends." I retorted. "Old?" "Come now Baron." I smirked taking a mouthful of rum. "You my friend are as old as death itself. You dig the graves of the dying, open the gates to the ghost roads, no one crosses over without your knowledge." I sneered. "That maybe?" he leaned forward. "What do you want Madame Lux?" "I want to know who Sasha Sanford is to you?" I responded. I watched as his body stiffened slightly but he quickly composed himself. "Never heard of any Sasha Sanford." He responded sipping his rum. "Why?" "She see's shadow people, and I reckon she can open the shadow road portals. I sense she has a gift for that kind of magic, only the blood of Baron Samedi can have such specific gifts with the dead." I gave him the evidence. "Well who knows" he shrugged. "A witch born to a coven, her power hidden from her to the point her magic is tied and bond because her magic comes from a different source." I mused. "An ancient blood line source." I added. " her magic is born of the realm of the dead. Her magic is black vodoo in essence. How oh how could that be?" I tutted taking another mouth full of rum. "Somethings are not to be understood." Baron Samedi retorted. "She's your daughter, born of a mortal witch?" I pushed slightly surprised. "But the real question here is why?" I added watching his reaction closely. "Am I allowed to say Madame Lux you are best off out of this." Baron Samedi responded standing up. "One old friend to another" he added putting an emphasis on the word old. "Why?" I stood to face him. "Why this girl and why now?" "Madame Lux as you say I am as old as death with older more powerful ancient friends that weave their influence through the modern world of myth and magic." A wind blew through the room plummeting the room into darkness by extinguishing the candles. "You told my daughter her gifts would reveal themselves in time, as they will. You all have an active part to play in whats on the horizon." He whispered suddenly behind me. "In this matter we all have to sit back and let fate be decided by those chosen to shape the future." He added. "The magical world is under threat, the dead are restless, the walls of the realms are thin." He responded. "We all watch with baited breath." He muttered before he was gone. "Son of a b***h" I yelled. I could hear his faint cackle as I rubbed my forearms in an attempt to remove the goosebumps left on my skin. Lighting the candles again with a flick of my hand I sat back down picking up my glass of rum. "Well, well Sasha Sanford it seems your self doubt is misplaced as Baron Samedi's mortal daughter certainly you are unique if not one of the most powerful witches amongst us." I said aloud throwing back the rum. **Charlie POV** My eyes snapped open and I took in a deep breath as I bolted into an upright position. My head was spinning as my hand automatically flew to my bump. "Its okay Charlie." Emmett's voice jerked me from my panic. "My pups?" I asked him. "Are doing fine." He reassured me sitting on the edge of the hospital bed "Pack hospital?" I asked him taking in my hospital surroundings. "Great." I sighed. "Do I have to stay here?" I asked as Emmett played with my damp red hair "I don't know but I will go ask Dr Teller?" He responded leaving to find him. After what felt like forever Emmett returned with Dr Teller. "Hello Future Luna Charlie and how are we feeling now?" He asked approaching the bedside. "I'm fine. Tired but fine." I replied. "Okay, let's just check you over ok?" He replied placing a thermometer in my mouth and applying the blood monitor cuff to my out stretched arm. After a few minutes he charted down the results. "All is still stable. I'm going to quickly check your pups heart rate and if all is normal you may go back to the pack house with Emmett. However I expect you back here tomorrow for a follow up." He added setting up the sonogram machine. It was soothing to hear the babies heart rates and Dr Teller was happy giving the okay for Emmett to help me home. Emmett insisted on cradling me in his arms wrapped in a blanket as my clothes were still soaking after the lake as he carried me home. I was too tired to dispute it and as it was the early hours of the morning no one was around to see us. I lay my head in the crook of his neck comfortable in his strong arms. He walked in comfortable silence holding me close. Once in the bedroom he placed me in the bed. I stood and pulled a pyjamas from my bag, silently removing the hospital gown I dressed as Emmett pottered around in the bathroom before returning and climbing into bed. I left him there as I quickly brushed my teeth before climbing in next to him. Whilst the silence was a comfortable affair I could sense Emmett had something to say. I snuggled myself closer to him and lay my head on his chest he tensed slightly at my sudden show of affection. I took his hand and placed it on my belly so he could feel the movement I was feeling. "I know you want to say something Emmett so why don't you just say it to me?" I whispered tracing my finger across his chest. He sighed heavily before he spoke "I know under normal circumstances you are well able to look after yourself and I know you are completely capable of watching out for yourself and our children. However with recent events in mind I think it would be best for now if temporarily you allowed me to provide you with security." He rushed sounding nervous. "Emmett under normal circumstances I would absolutely disagree but following the events of the past few days and the fact that I am so tired I'm going to agree." I replied. "Charlie thank you." He muttered wrapping his arms tightly around me. His breathing slowed and evened out as he fell asleep and soon I fell into a comfortable sleep of my own. I woke to Emmett tightening me into a cosy bear hug "I love waking up next to you." He whispered his lips finding mine. "Emmett." I mumbled "as much as I love this little make out morning wake up session." His lips were still touching mine. "Shhhhh" he murmured kissing me deeply again and his hand crept under my pyjama top. I kissed him back before breaking away. "Emmett I really need to pee." I replied. "Fun first , pee later." He moaned "Emmett I'm pregnant I'm sorry its always pee first right now." I responded laughing. "Seriously?" He sighed. "Completely" I responded raising an eyebrow. Emmett laughed. "Fine you win.
