Chapter Two

"Hello, my name is Regina Collins and I'll be showing you around," she smiled at me with wide, innocent eyes. "I'm sure you already know my name, but I'm Blake Reid." "May I see your schedule? Just so that I know where I need to take you today. That way we can meet somewhere in between classes." I fished in my bag and handed her my paper with my schedule. She studied it a few times before handing it back. "You are one lucky girl. We have all of our classes together so it'll be super easy!" Wow, they really wanted to assure that I got close to Regina didn't they? "Sounds good," I smiled a tight smile that I hoped didn't look too forced or unpleasant. "Just follow me. First hour we have Ms. Bishop, she teaches AP Chemistry. I think you'll like her and the class is small so it won't be hard to concentrate," she beamed. This girl was a ray of sunshine so far. Why did they think I'd have trouble befriending her by wearing my normal clothes? I followed her from class to class for the first three classes. I soon saw that she was nasty to those who appeared to have less money than she had, but not me because everything about me screamed money. Then it was time for lunch. Jason please have this lunch! There were three different lunches that depended on what class you had. Each lunch was dismissed from third period. "Hey Blake. How has your day been?" Jason had come from behind me causing me to automatically reach for one of my knives. "Please don't sneak up on me Jason," I gave him a meaningful glare. He just smiled as he ruffled my hair. What the hell! We had an assignment, well I had an assignment, but still. "Relax," he smiled down at me as we joined the lunch line. I leaned over to him. "I can't! Have you forgotten the reason I'm here? It's not to have fun and relax," I whispered so only he would hear. Before he could speak again, he was interrupted by Regina. "Why don't you guys sit with us? We have room for two more people." "Sure," Jason said as we paid for our lunch. We had to use a four digit number that accessed our lunch accounts. The lunch room was odd. Two rows of table lined the upper part of the room, there were stairs that led down to at least ten other long rows of tables, the walls looked dirty and had some strange luwan board with holes in it on one section of the right hand wall, and four painted collages. The ceiling was even stained with something. What could have caused that? During my quick analysis I noticed where the teachers stood and the stares Jason and I were receiving. We then set our trays down at a table with two other boys and four girls not including Jason and I. I suppose I should describe everyone I sat with. Regina was about my height, had dark brown hair with natural lighter highlights, her eyes were the same color as her hair, and she wore a gray skirt with a purple shirt and gray heels. The two boys, Matt and Alex, were dressed alike. Both wore tight shirts that didn't seem all that expensive, but I'm sure they were judging by everyone else's attire. The girls almost wore the same outfit as Regina. Gray skirts, gray heels, but different colored blouses. "What class do you have right now?" Jason leaned over to me. "Theatre up there on the stage. Then I'm aloud to leave last period since I've met all my requirements. What about you?" "Same actually. Do you think you'll be able to relax enough to act?" he teased. "Shut up and eat your lunch." I picked at my own food, but mainly made nice with everyone. They really really liked me, but they absolutely loved Jason. Well at least the girls did. The guys took to me better. I found out exactly why after lunch. Regina and two of the girls that had been sitting with us, Savannah and Sam, pulled me away from Jason. "You're brother's so hot! Is he single?" All three girls asked in unison. "He's single yes, but I'm not sure he wants a girlfriend right now." With that we sat in the chairs on stage and waited for the teacher, Mrs. White. She took attendance and just looked at us. "Blake and Jason right? I want you to show us what you have. Prepare a short scene of your picking and perform it for us. I'll give you five minutes." "Okay Jason, I say we don't act just do what we have been taught. The hand to hand combat type of thing. Just try and let me win please." "Got it." We stood in the middle of the circle of chairs and waited. "Okay give us all you have!" Mrs. White cheered. "I've been watching you," Jason started. "Oh yeah? That's a little creepy." "It's my job." "What? Being creepy?" "No to watch suspected rogue agents." "What do you mean'rogue'?" "Kill agents within the agency on outside orders." "Ha! Me? A rogue agent?" I mocked. "Yeah, but you're very sneaky." "Have you ever thought that I'm not? Plus, I heard that you were the rogue agent. I've been watching you too." "Maybe you're watching me because I'm your next target." "Puh-lease! If I was a rogue agent then I wouldn't be watching you! Your not worth my time." "I'm not worth your time? Are you saying my skills aren't better than yours?" "Not at all." "Good because my skills are far superior than yours." "Oh yeah big head? Let me see you prove that!" I challenged. With that he lunged at me, but I easily dodged his advance. My height was to my advantage because I was half a foot shorter than him. I then wrapped my arms and legs tightly around his back and neck, holding on for dear life, but he was still able to pry me off. You know how this was suppose to be a fake fight? Well there was nothing fake about this fight. He pinned me to the stage floor by putting his forearm firmly against my neck. He was applying enough pressure that it hurt but it didn't constrict my airway. I twisted slightly and kicked him in the ribs. I'm sure he was shocked, but not in as much pain as he was pretending to be. I mean he was acting like I broke ribs, but there was no tell tale cracking noise that would have indicated that. Before he recovered from the shock of the hit I rolled out from under him. He started to move as if to get up, but I twisted his right arm behind his back and used the rest of my weight to pin him down. "Admit defeat now," I whispered into his ear. "Fine! I'll admit that your skills are as good as mine if not better. I surrender." He made me cringe inward at the sudden loud noise he made. "It takes a big man to admit defeat." "Then I'm one big man." Our scene ended. Everyone applauded our performance. "That was good. Auditions for this semesters play is next week. See me after class and I'll give you the material. Now let's do some warm-up and improv things." The class was really fun I had to admit. Before I knew it the hour and a half class was over. "What do you have now?" Regina bounced up to me. "Nothing remember. Wait, don't you? I thought you said we had the same classes." "We do that's right. Come to my house at five okay? You can bring your brother too," she smiled while staring at him. "Oh and here's my address." She handed me a torn piece of paper with and address scrawled on it. I already had it, but that wasn't something she needed to know. "I'll be there and maybe Jason too." "Okay see you later." "Bye." Finally school was over. I forgot how much I hated being in a group of teenagers that could never know the real me. Jason drove again, but kept glancing at me. Weird.
