Sebastian returned home after ensuring the assassin that killed went to the dungeons. After the war, that man would receive his punishment, but for now, getting information on the enemy is more important. He opened the door to find Rebecca, her parents, and Lady Lilly sitting quietly in the living room. Though she forgave them, a divide still existed between the parents and Rebecca, and he could understand why. He chewed on his lip for a minute before walking to his wife and taking her in his arms. She seemed to sink into his arms, and that sense of coming home filled him. It felt as though it had been a while since he held her like this.
“Did he talk?” Rebecca asked with a sigh of happiness. “What does uncle think?”
