Riding into the palace town; cheers went throughout those gathered until the crowd noticed Rebecca was not with him. A hush fell over the crowd as they took in how serious the situation was. He rode his horse forward until they came to a stop in front of the Palace Gates, where his family was waiting. Dismounting, Aaron handed the reins to a stable hand before bowing gracefully to his parents. The looks on their faces were grim, and he could only assume they would be angry with the news that he was not here to stay, as well as the news that his trip bore no fruit.
“Let us take this to an Audience Chamber within the Palace.” It was Landon’s voice that was his saving grace. “I wish to hear of my brother’s travels.”
