I finish reading the History work we were assigned and decide that I will finish the chapter questions after supper.
I'm just getting up to head back downstairs to check on Aunt Lucy and dinner when my phone rings.
"Hello"
"Hey Liese, it's Sam!" Sam's voice comes cheerfully singing through the line.
"Hey, what's up?" I ask.
"Jude and I are on our way to your house" she says. "You seemed off today, we wanted to come check on you!"
My voice seems to get caught in my throat momentarily, "Oh, uh, I'm fine. I'm just about to have dinner with my Aunt though" I state. "I'll, uh, call you when I'm finished"
We end the call and I head down the stairs, was I really that obvious today?
Aunt Lucy is just dishing dinner out for us as I walk into the kitchen.
"Perfect timing as always dear, it's as if you can read my mind" she smiles at me.
I tilt my head back and laugh, "no Aunt Lucy, I can always just smell your amazing cooking!"
We sit down as the table and start eating, the longer we eat the more the tension seems to be building in the room due to our awkward silence.
Finally as Aunt Lucy finishes her last bite she looks at me. I can't see the tension on her face, her brow furrowed as if looking for the correct words to say.
"We need to talk" she finally blurts out.
"O...kay..." I say hesitantly. My mind races, thinking of the endless possibilities of horrible things she could be needing to talk to me about. Thinking about how I lost my mom, how my life had changed so much. Oh gawd, Aunt Lucy was dying too.
My heart started racing and I started hyperventilating, my anxiety taking over my body. The world around me becoming a swirling haze before it went black.
Suddenly a bright light appeared in front of me, Aunt Lucy emerging from the light.
'I'm dead, I died!' I thought.
Suddenly Aunt Lucy was beside me holding my hand and irging me to calm down, "low, slow breaths dear" she calmly said.
I listened to her, finding my inner peace and letting it guide me, further into the darkness, I closed me eyes and took a deep breath.
I liked this peace and quiet, it was actually inviting.
When I opened my eyes, Aunt Lucy and I were in a forest. I glanced at her not entirely sure why I was here, or what I should do.
"Keep going" Aunt Lucy gently persuaded, not forcing me forward nor backward, guiding me with nothing more than her patience and willingness to stay at my side until I decided on my own to move. "Follow your instincts, find your path" she said sweetly. "I know you can do it!"
I followed the dirt path through the forest for what felt like miles. Turning left at some of the forks in the road, and right at others. Aunt Lucy calmly and silently staying at my side, holding my hand along the way.
Until I came upon an old log cabin, it had a tiny weathered deck on the front of it barely big enough for the rocking chair sitting there. There were beautiful purple clematis vines in full bloom and growing up and around the cabin from every angle, giving it a very inviting, homey feel. Yet despite this cabins obvious age, it looked very well taken care of, not a broken window or rotten or loose board in sight.
I stared at this old cabin, not knowing if I should approach it, was I trespassing? Maybe I should turn back.
"It's okay, I'm right here, I'm with you" Aunt Lucy whispers.
I hesitate and take a deep breath before I continue forward toward the old log cabin, as I get closer a wave of calmness comes over me. I assend up the three wooden steps towards the front door. Although they are old are worn, none of the boards even flex under the weight of Aunt Lucy and I.
I touch my hand to the doorknob and my entire body feels like it's fluttering, the exact same feeling that I had only earlier today when my hand and Zanes touched for that brief second.
Suddenly, everything feels so right, the only thing I can see are Zanes beautiful golden eyes staring into mine.
My body craves his touch, all I can think about is Zane, and at that moment I know that living without him will literally be the death of me...
I turn the doorknob and the door silently swings open.

JUDE'S POV
Sam and I have been driving around for over two hours waiting for Annaliese to call us back.
I need Sam to help me convince Liese to come to Zanes party tomorrow, it is my job as his Beta and her Gamma to help make this happen.
After school I was called upon by our clan healer, Genevieve, she is a witch that not only holds our prophecies but also specializes in moon medicine.
It was from Gene that I learnt that Zane and Liese's hands had touched, erupting sparks and shooting out an entirely new path for our clan, for our livelihood.
When Gene received this information she knew Zane had truly found his mate.
It has now become my new task to help make this prophecy come true.
For without it, we will most definitely become extinct.
Zane and Annaliese are destined, bound together by an unbreakable bond.
At this time Genevieve and I are the only ones that know about this, we decided it's best to not tell too many yet.
Jess and her family could still prove problematic until we have everything ready and in order.
I didn't fully understand it, I wasn't sure how a plain ol' normal human was going to be able to protect our pack.
Then again, who was I to question a prophecy. Our witch would probably just use her witchy-woo powers and ta-da.
At least that's how I imagined it worked.
I chuckled to myself and picked up my phone to check the time once again, and triple check that I haven't missed a call or message.
I sigh loudly.
"Everything okay?" Sam asks.
"It's been over two hours, do you think she is going to call?" I ask Sam.
"It sure isn't like her, she seemed so off today. Maybe we should go check of her!?" Sam half asks and half states to me.
Before even a second thought I grab my e-brake, spin my car around, and head toward Liese's house in the opposite direction.
