Welcome Party

Sarah looked up to see the Ethan family emerging from the mansion. Mrs. Ethan, the matriarch, stood tall, her silver hair styled impeccably, and her eyes sparkling with warmth. Beside her was Alex Ethan, looking every bit the part of a handsome and confident heir. The crowd erupted into applause as the Ethan family made their way to the designated area, with cameras clicking, the media men trying to get perfect angles. Sarah found herself clapping along with the others, her eyes fixed on the striking figure of Alex Ethan. She couldn't help but notice how handsome he was, even more so than in the photos and videos she'd seen. His chiseled features, sharp jawline, and piercing brown eyes seemed to command attention, and his tailored suit accentuated his athletic build perfectly. Pictures didn’t do justice to his handsome looks. The suit was a deep navy blue, fitting him impeccably, and the subtle sheen of the fabric caught the light just right. A crisp white shirt and a slim tie in a subtle pattern completed the outfit, giving him a polished and refined look that was perfect for the occasion. It was clear that Alex Ethan was a man who took his appearance seriously, and it showed. As the applause died down, the guests took their seats, and Mrs. Ethan began to greet people, introducing Alex to various dignitaries and business associates. Alex's smile seemed a bit strained at times, but he played the part well, shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries with ease. Sarah looked at her colleagues who had their eyes fixed on Alex, fascinated by his charm and demeanor. He looks too handsome. So this is the Almighty Spark, his stage name as he’s widely known; he looks too perfect to be on this earth. They’ve never seen a man so gorgeous. Alex nodded sheepishly as he continued to shake different hands and exchange pleasantries. He looked very calm, even though he was tired of the greeting and just wanted to sit. He’s still able to maintain his calm demeanor, and that’s one of his charms – the ability to stay calm even in an uncomfortable situation. He’s signed so many autographs for different families who claim their sons or daughters are his die-hard fans and they have to go back home with his autograph. Only the signing of autographs doesn’t bore him; he loves his fans and loves to make them happy. All his life, apart from his grandma, he doesn’t know what love is; he’s never experienced what true love is and only lives to survive. So when he meets fans that really love him, he appreciates it, even if he’s never met them. Just when he thought they were done with the pleasantries and he could finally have a seat, the media people came forward asking to conduct an interview. He looked at his grandma, who seemed to be aware of the interview but didn’t let him know in advance because she knows he will never agree. “Okay, let’s go over there,” she pointed at the stage, and started leaving with them, holding Alex’s hand, of course. Alex sighed, annoyed, but still followed behind. Grandma just set a trap. Not long after, the camera was set and the interview began. Two journalists were in charge of the interview. Journalist 1 began, “Now that the Ethan family heir is back to assume his position as the C.E.O, what should we expect?” “Greatness,” Mrs. Ethan chirped in. “You can only expect more greatness, more success in the family name and business.” She smiled. “Now, how does he intend to navigate between working as a C.E.O in the world of business and being a superstar?” Journalist 2 quickly asked. “I’ll love it if Mr. Alex can answer me directly,” he added with a smile. Alex scoffed, staring intently at the journalist. For a few seconds, he was startled by the cold stare he’s getting from Alex; it looks natural yet deadly. For a reason he couldn’t fathom, the man in front of him looked deadly. “Well,” Alex’s deep, husky yet soft voice brought him back to life. Alex’s eyes narrowed slightly, his expression unreadable. “Resuming as the C.E.O,” he paused, adjusting his mic, his deep voice smooth and controlled. “I think it’s a matter of balance. I’ve been in the entertainment industry for a while now, and I’ve learned to prioritize my time and energy. I’m confident that my experience and skills will serve me well in my upcoming role as C.E.O.” He paused, his gaze sweeping across the hall before moving on. “That being said, I understand that there may be concerns about how I’ll manage my responsibilities as a celebrity. I’ll do everything in my power to ensure the success of the Ethan family business. I’ve been trained since I was a kid, and I have all the knowledge I require. Being a celebrity doesn’t limit or reduce my ability and knowledge; rather, it serves as an advantage.” This was the longest speech he’s uttered since he arrived in the country. Mrs. Ethan let out a big smile, proud of his answer. The other guests listening couldn’t help but be impressed. What do they expect from the Ethan heir? He must be intelligent. “Hmm,” the journalist cleared his throat. He answered so well, and there was nothing else to tackle him. “And your music?” he asked, his tone probing. “Will we see more of your music in the future?” “Music is a passion of mine, and I enjoy creating and sharing it with my fans. My soon-to-be-assumed role may take a significant amount of my time. I don’t see myself giving up music completely. Let’s see how it goes,” Alex said. “I heard you’re having a show with your fans a few days ahead,” Journalist 1 chirped in. “Yeah, you can grab a ticket,” Alex uttered, and the journalist couldn’t help but smile. He wanted to end the interview, but was surprised when his colleague’s voice came up. “But then there has been a rumor circulating underground. It was said you’re an illegitimate son and not Mrs. Rose’s direct son, which is confusing to the public. Can you make us understand?” He looked at his colleague, mouth agape, not expecting that kind of sensitive question. Everyone looked surprised, with silence following. No one was expecting that kind of question. In all this, Alex looked calm and composed. “Rumour circulating underground, care to tell us where exactly?” Alex asked, throwing the question back at the journalist. The journalist, not expecting him to do that, looked confused and speechless. “Well, everybody knows.” “How many people?” Alex let out a sly smile. “If you’re here and you know I’m an illegitimate son, please come outside and step forward.” Everyone stared at each other in silence, and no one dared to step forward. “What insolence,” Mrs. Ethan’s voice broke the silence. “How dare you try to embarrass my grandson and the Ethan family?” She questioned, slamming her hand on the table. “Because I gave you the opportunity to come and broadcast, it seems you’ve forgotten the might of the Ethan family and think we can be taken as fools. My grandson is a legitimate heir. Is this the kind of question you’re to ask? Is that how competent your media agency is, because I gave you an opportunity that other media agencies are dying to have?” She blurted out in anger, standing up. “Please, we’re sorry. He blurted out the question out of proportion. I promise we’ll cut out that part,” the first journalist quickly begged. “I’m sorry. I was wrong. Please forgive us,” the journalist who asked the question begged. “You better cut that part,” she said, obviously angry. “Let’s go back,” she turned to Alex, and they both left to join the guests.
