I felt so close to death but I didn’t want to let myself slip away. In my head, while I was unconscious I could hear Grayson calling out to me over our mind-link. I could see Grace and Grayson in my mind. I couldn’t let them go. When I woke up I found that I was in the castle’s infirmary. I had magic-coated bandages wrapped around my torso, arms, and head. “You’re awake,” my mom said quietly. I sat up and looked at her. “What are you doing here?” I asked. “Grayson called me and told me what happened. I came right away. He’s talking to Grace now,” she explained with worry plastered on her face. Before in our battle with Sara and her low-classes, I didn’t only feel my own pain but Grayson’s too. I turned my head as Grace came in with her father. “Thank god,” he said with heavy relief.
