Chapter 66 REX WAS READING A PAPERBACK crime noir novel at the public library. It was his favorite genre, and he had read plenty, from Sam Spade, and Philip Marlowe to Perry Mason. His phone rang while he was right in the middle of an action scene with Philip Marlowe. It rang again. He was almost done with the page as it rang a third time. He finally answered it. “Hello, Gerry. What can I do for you?” “About time, what were you doing? Nevermind. I have a pickup at City Hall, the mayor's office on the second floor.
