REX DECIDED HE NEEDED to prepare for the advocacy meeting he had later. He called Stevie and met her at Dots Cafe to write an agenda. They discussed what to do about Jim Bellows and the pedestrian angle.
The idea for BARB came out of an incident that happened during a Critical Mass ride a couple months earlier. Critical Mass is a bicycle movement that usually takes place the last Friday of the month. It started in San Francisco in 1992, and expanded to other cities, including Buffalo. It is part parade, part protest, part reclaiming the streets.
In Buffalo, it had been taking place for a few years. There was no pre-planned route or formal meetings, other than meeting the last Friday of every month. The first rides in Buffalo were attended by the outcasts of the cycling commun
