Chapter 29
TED ARNOLD ARRIVED at 7:50 the next morning for his first day of work. Stevie was already waiting for him inside the Zippee office.
“Good morning!” she said and smiled at Ted.
“Hi. How are you?”
“I am great! You ready to be a messenger?”
“Yeah. Can’t be that hard, can it?”
“Really?” Stevie asked. “That’s how you want to start your first day with the person who’s gonna train you?” She shook her head. “Bad idea, mister,” she half-joked.
Ted said hello to Gerry, and met Rex for the first time. Stevie showed Ted where the manifests were, and how to fill them out.
Gerry finally asked Stevie if she had finished. “Are you gonna spend all day in here? Get out there, and show him around.”
“Yeah, yeah,” she pretended to snarl back. “Grab your gear, and let’s get out of here.”
