ROCCO ALBANO AND PAT Zambini met the rest of their crew at eight the next morning. David Esposito, Vinnie Falco, and Tommy Porto were waiting when they arrived. All the men were in Victor Ragu’s crew. They had worked together for over twenty-five years, and most of them grew up near each other on the West Side. They all worked different rackets, from shylocking to gambling, and extortion. From robbery, shakedowns, dealing in stolen goods, and murder. You name it, they did it. Unlike today, they usually worked alone. Each was responsible for a weekly payment to Ragu, regardless of whether they had a good week or not.
