SCARLET
I missed the school bus, and it wasn't like Rose would give me a ride even if she was here. It was also not the first time that this had happened. The road from the city to the suburbs wasn't that long, but it sure is for Rose, who's too afraid to f*****g break a nail let alone walk a few miles.
It was that awkward time between seasons were the trees were still deciding whether to bear fruit or to shed their flowers. Summer was always my least favourite season. You could take off every article of clothing and still sweat your ass off. But hey, with the heat comes the occasional bliss of a heavenly summer breeze.
As I enter intersection I'm greeted with dirty looks from the suburbanites or even better the hasty mothers calling their children inside as I walk by. Sometimes if I'm really lucky I even get some rowdy kids that call me names like 'zombie' or 'demon', or they ask me who's funeral it is or tell me to go back to hell where I came from. And very rarely I get the utterly ironic name bloodsucker. I chuckle to myself, if only they knew.
The thing I always loved about the suburbs especially ours was the amount of greenery, the sound of the rustling of the leaves on the trees was enough to make anyone feel just a glimmer of peace. It was almost always nearly silent in the streets at this time, the late afternoon.
Which made it ever easier to notice that I was being followed.
They were a blur of black and blue, but appeared more than they should in the sharpest edges of my vision.
I decided to take a turn and go off a different street, one where I knew there was a dead-end. I could of easily of pulled out my phone now and texted Aunt Christa, but why do that when I know I can fend for myself.
I kept the same pace as not to alarm them. The closer we got to the dead-end street, the more I noticed them, or were they trying to make me notice them?
I felt my heart race at the thought, the thought of what is actually about to happen. The delicious irony being that the hunter is being hunted. There was this thrill in hunting a human that seemed much more satisfying than drinking from those packets in the fridge. The look on the prey's eyes as they have the life drained from them. It sounds so evil when I think about it, but it’s built in me to love the taste of blood and to get an adrenaline rush when capturing a prey.
I arrived at the dead-end, but had no one to accompany me. They were completely gone. Did they realise what I was going to do and bailed?
“Coward,” I whispered then spat on the ground and carried on the walking, but soon feeling the hard concrete ground under my body.

Next thing I knew cold water was being sprayed on my face and I saw a shirtless pot-bellied man carrying a hose stand over me.
“Get yourself off my property, Satan-w***e!” he scolded me, “Go on! Get!”
I got up hastily cursing the man under my breath and running my fingers through my short, red-dyed hair. That's how people in this neighbourhood treated people like me.
But wait… Where did that person go? As I walked I felt my bag still on my back, taking it off I noticed all of its contents still inside. My arm stung as I moved it too fast, but not from pins and needles. I looked over to see two of the tiniest pricks on my inner forearm, connecting to my wrist.
My breath cut short. Was I just bitten by a vampire?
ROSE
I had a date tonight. One I've been holding off for a while now, with a fellow student council member, Marcus. He was in charge of the school newspaper and tried way too hard to be this misunderstood writer that was way too complicated for anyone in school.
He only wore leather jackets, torn pants and listened to the most “underrated” and “unknown” bands, like that somehow made him more interesting as a person. No matter how hard he tries to like things that aren't popular, he never seems to keep his eyes off me.
He reminded me of the date and I got ready as soon as I got home. We arranged to meet at Remone's a family pizzeria. He's probably planning on getting pizza, but I've got something more delicious on the brain.
I arrived there wearing the most attractive thing I could've thought to wear, that showed off all my favourite parts. My legs, thighs and my full chest. I also always kept my hair low on my hunting exhibitions. As to make myself faceless in case somebody sees.
As I pull up into the parking lot I see him leaning against his bike, watching me with his blank eyes. He managed to form a grin on his face as I climbed out though, he was probably trying to be all brooding.
“I was starting to get worried you weren't gonna show” he said trying to be a bit coy. I had to grip my fist like that Arthur meme to stop myself from rolling my eyes at how pathetic he was.
“I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long,” I said walking up to him and sliding my hand up his chest softly clutching his collar, “Maybe I should make it up to you… Since I made you wait so long” I pulled him closer to me, by his collar and started kissing him.
It was at that moment that I got him hooked. After pulling away I looked around to see if anyone was around, while he was still in a daze, then I pulled him by this arm leading him away behind the building.
“Now we have more privacy,” I heard him sigh as I said that then push me against the wall. The pheromones were working overtime now.
Immediately I slid my mouth to his neck and bit, my other hand holding his mouth shut so that he couldn't scream.
And it was done. That was it. I drank just enough to make sure he was unconscious, but not too much that he would die.
I left him there, in between the trash cans, and licked up every drop I spilled. After a couple hours he wouldn't remember a thing. The feelings after you feed leave you with the most glorious afterglow, I was all smiles as I walked back to my car, an innocent girl.
