The Cajun insisted on taking first watch. We stood at an impasse over who watched first. I reckoned it was a man’s thing. I didn’t argue. Who was I to burst his male pride? I went off scouting out the mansion. Upstairs, I found the master bedroom at the end of the hall. The room didn’t lack in its exquisite décor, a stark white. Although no matter how heavy the price tag, the room felt cold and void. I stood in the center of the large bedroom peering through the darkness. I didn’t see anything that had Aidan’s stamp on it.
