Chapter 19

3157 Words

Chapter 19 Mrs. Cora Louise Linton would have been full of pride at how bright and cheery her kitchen looked—and more importantly—how amazing it smelled. Quinn wasn’t the only one who suspected simply having people in the kitchen, getting ready to eat together, and happy to be there made all the difference. The sad, dingy feel had vanished under much less scrubbing and dusting than anyone expected. Nothing more than a quick sweep through and opening the sturdy double-hung windows to the crisp early afternoon air. Now the cheery curtains fluttered their crop of daisies into the room with a promise of new life, even in autumn. The big family-sized table was set with heavy burgundy plates with forest green cloth napkins, and the most adorable flatware with flowers all along the handles.
