The music was deafening, the crowd wild and chaotic. Laughter and conversations blended with the heavy bass, filling the air with a familiar energy. But in the middle of it all, Luna Ha stood frozen, her heart hammering in her chest.
Her gaze locked onto a figure across the room. Ian Kang.
After all these years, he was here. Standing effortlessly, surrounded by the same crowd that always followed him. He looked unchanged. Calm, confident, untouchable. Pero alam ni Luna, maraming nagbago.
“Luna?”
A voice pulled her from her thoughts.
She turned around, her breath hitching as she met his eyes. Before she could react, Ian was already stepping closer, his usual smirk faltering as he studied her face.
“I didn’t think you’d come back.”
His voice was low, barely audible over the music, but Luna heard every word.
She clenched her fists. “I didn’t come back for you.”
Her tone was sharp, sharper than she intended. Ian raised an eyebrow, amused.
“Then why are you here?”
Luna pressed her lips together, fighting the urge to respond. She had her reasons, pero hindi siya kailangang magpaliwanag sa kanya.
“I have my reasons.”
Ian’s expression didn’t change. He simply nodded, pero hindi siya umalis. Instead, he leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper.
“You can’t avoid me forever, Luna. Not here. Not in Veritas.”
A soft laugh escaped her lips. “Watch me try.”
She turned around and walked away, leaving Ian staring after her. The weight of their past pressed against her chest, pero hindi siya lumingon.
She didn’t know exactly why she came back to Veritas Academy, but one thing was certain, this year would be different. Whether she liked it or not.
