"Just past noon." His thumb traced my cheekbone gently. "How do you feel?" I took a mental inventory of my body. The bone-deep exhaustion from last night had faded to a manageable weariness. Diamond's presence was quieter but still there, a contented hum beneath my consciousness. "Better," I said. "Still tired, but not like I'm going to collapse anymore." The other three were beginning to stir around us, drawn into wakefulness by our conversation. Fin's arm tightened around my waist while Brent stretched beside me. Liam's eyes opened last, green and sleepy in the midday light. "She's awake," he observed unnecessarily, a smile spreading across his face. I couldn't help but smile back, still marvelling at how quickly everything had changed. A week ago, these four had been my tormentors.
