The Demons Hidden Kingdom

Round Two

Kinru POV

After stopping for a while and talking, I could sense the conversation was becoming distressing for her. I wanted to take her mind off what we had been talking about, and I needed to let off some steam from getting too close a moment ago. I look up to the rooftop in front of us and look back at Eli, grabbing her attention I place my hand on her shoulder and say.

“Round two?”.

She looked back at me with her icy blue eyes “Round two?”.

“Yes, round two and this time I’ll lead” I say with confidence. “Try keep up won’t you?”

I knew I was being a bit over confident, but it felt good using my power freely here. There was nobody to fear us, no one to hide from.

“Don’t think that trick you pulled earlier will work again, my body has adjusted now you know.” she says.

I stare he dead in the eye, to let her know I mean business. But she doesn’t flinch, seems I’m not the only one showing some confidence. I adjust my stance and look towards the West Wall of the Kingdom.

“The wall” I say, pointing towards it.

“Fine” her answer sharp.

Her confidence had thrown me a little and I was beginning to question my own. I caught her before, and she even ran into me, surly I’ll be able to outrun her. I look at her again, this time I look her up and down. I was looking forward to watching her run again, I’d noticed she’d changed her dress and it suited her perfect. It showed her figure nicely and I couldn’t help but admire her, my Demon Power was beginning to stir and I knew it was time to go. I hope that using my power to increase my speed will help me relieve some of this tension.

I ready my stance and look away towards our finish point, I’m just about to take off when I hear.

“Kinru...” she pauses for a second and an enchanting, yet sinister smile shows on her face. “Don’t blink. Ok?”

My expression turns to one of determination, but her words had shaken me. I choose to ignore her statement, not allowing it to get to me. The wind blew a sudden breeze and the nights cold air surrounds us both, regaining my focus I build up some of my Demon Energy and take off running...

I leap to the rooftops and make a straight run for the Wall, I was already using a considerable amount of my power to maintain my current speed. I glance back, expecting to see Eli hot on my tracks, but she wasn’t. I was confused for a split second, but quickly shifted my focus back to the goal.

As I look back towards the Wall I become shocked by Eli just stood not far in front on me. I come to a sudden stop, the force damaging the roof below my feet.

How did she even get there? I never saw her over take me. She stood there, that same smile as before. I force out more of my Demon Power, a black flame like Aura emits from my body and I again take off running. My speed greatly increases as I use more of my Power, I feel my eyes beginning to change to allow me better sight.

The change to my vision caused me to instantly blink and when my eyes closed, it was like time had stopped. I suddenly think about what Eli had said before we began.

‘Don’t blink. Ok?’

My eyes open, and there Eli stands, just meters in front. I again force my self to come to a stand still, breathing heavily I look at her with a concerning smile.

“Are you trying to mess with me?” I say trying my best to catch a breath.

She looks at me and that conniving smile appears back on her face “I said don’t blink didn’t I?”

I look at her, my face struck with amusement. I’d never met someone who could actually compete against me before, but she was something else. I didn’t even see her move! And she can’t have over taken me, I would have seen her!

“You look tired Kinru, maybe you should rest here a while” she says to me with sarcasm.

“You wish little girl! Don’t think your tricks can fool me!” yelling back at her, I turn and swiftly take off.

She continues her game with me for a while longer, I’d get so far and she’d block my way, causing me to change my course. Her movements where seamless, she hadn’t even broke a sweat. On the other hand, I was beginning to feel the after effects of my power. I wasn’t used to using this much of it in one go, and was becoming worried I’d lose control if I went too far.

We were both beginning to close in on the Wall, and I needed one last push to make the finish. As a last resort I force out another mass amount of my Demon Energy to aid me, my Aura changed drastically to a scorching, green flame. I feel my body begin to change and my blood boiling, racing though my body.

In my mid-transformation, I become enraged at the thought of losing this stupid race. At this point I’m practically at the Wall, just two buildings stood between me and my goal. But my mind starts to flood with evil, negative thoughts...

I’ll win this!

When I do I’ll put a hole in that wall!

And when I’m done tearing up this f*****g Kingdom...

I’ll take that Demon b***h for my own!...

I couldn’t push back the thoughts I was having, and became fearful when I couldn’t regain control of my Inner Demon. I was about to act on all the thoughts I’d had since arriving, and most of them involved Eli.

Leaping fiercely over the last couple of buildings I reach the Wall, the impact creating a large crater around me. I scan the area and soon realise Eli wasn’t around, she also didn’t try to stop me reaching the wall on that last run. My thoughts become agonising and I needed to find her fast.

I frantically look around the buildings below, but she still wasn’t in sight. I close my eyes and try to sense her whereabouts, and almost instantly, I feel her Aura right behind me! I quickly swing my head around, catching sight of her! She’s just there, sitting down right above me, her hair fell over her shoulder and ruffled with the breeze as it passed us. Her eyes were screaming sorrow and I could see it.

I feel my conscious trapped and overruled by my Demonic Power, my heart breaks thinking I might hurt Eli and I try not to move. I attempt to force my intrusive thoughts out of my mind, but fail to do so. I lock my eyes on her and without warning charge up the Wall! Stone falls to the ground from the force of each step I take.

Eli stands up, but it’s too late! I’m already right in front of her and ready to attack! My heart sinks as my body moves on its own. Full of rage I reach to grab her hair in an attempt to make her submit.

But everything suddenly goes blank.

I come to and Eli is holding my arm, and two of her fingers were placed on my forehead. Her Aura, now visible glowed blue like Ice Crystals, and formed like flames. Her touch was soothing and I suddenly felt myself again, I didn’t understand what had happened. One second I was about to go on a rampage, and now I’m calm and relaxed.

“Feel better?” Eli asks.

I just stare at her confused, unable to devise an answer. We drop to the rooftops below, Eli manages to keep a hold of my arm and her fingers on my forehead. I sit down and Eli along side me, her touch keeping my Inner Demon a bay. I couldn’t believe I’d lost control so easily, obviously forcing my Demon Power out wasn’t a great idea..

We sit on the rooftop in silence for a moment, allowing myself time to digest what happened. I was worried she was angry, my actions were unforgivable! I try avoid eye contact, but I soon become overwhelmed with guilt. My eyes eventually glance over at her, and to my surprise, she was smiling! Her eyes were still filled with sadness but also showed relief.

“I can teach you to control it” she says softly. “You’re lucky I was here to bring you back, or you would have really become a walking monster!” a small uneasy laugh came after, but it eased the awkward feeling. “Using that much power in one go when you’re not used to it, can have devastating consequences”.

“I realise that now” I respond with disappointment. “I’ve never had to use that much before, and I understand if you want to exile me an....”

“Exile you? For what?” her smile disappeared and her face grows concerned.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN.. FOR WHAT?!” I yell at her “I just tried to attack you! You don’t even want to know what I planned to do to you! I could have killed you!”

“Unlikely” she says, shrugging off what I was trying to tell her. “You lost control, it happens. You shouldn’t beat yourself up over it”

“You’re insane! Do you not hear what I’m telling you? I tried to KILL YOU!” I aggressively shift my body close to hers, trying to get a reaction.

Eli remains still, unfazed and her fingertips still resting on my forehead.

“Kinru?” she says, her voice now soft again. “I want to help you, and I want you to stay here.. with me”.

My frustration starts to fade, but I still feel guilty and even more now for yelling. Her fingers move from my forehead and she runs them through my hair. It distracted me from everything else and my focus was solely on her. I craved her touch, and it felt so satisfying as she ruffled my hair. Even though I felt completely calm, I was still intensely attracted to her and wanted more than anything, to just kiss her right now!

I struggle to keep it all in and I decide to ask her how she feels, I needed to know if she felt it too! Was she my mate? Possibly my wife?

‘Demons create strong bonds with their loved ones’.

I had to know what it all meant!

“Eli?”....
